National Guard Armory Roller Rink 802 South 17th Street, Montevideo, Minnesota. They had roller skating in the National Guard Armory in Montevideo, Minnesota. It was an old brick building where skaters used to skate from 1950s to 1980s.
However, it died down perhaps around late 1980s because the youths found other means of entertainment and recreation such as video games and later cell phones and computers. The attendance declined and there were several attempts to start up again but failed.
This time it is back in 2019 through Chippewa Valley Youth Club which is currently the home where the former roller rink is and will attempt to start again. They did it this time and successfully returned as a roller rink in 2019 on.
The address also mentioned it is 711 South 17th Street, Montevideo, Minnesota. But it is the same location.
The Interior.
It was an armory at one time. It has non-painted Polyurethane coated Maple wood floor, layout straight like a basketball court would be. It has a basketball court on the same floor as the rink. Very plain simple design interior. Gray walls. Simple. It is a basketball court size. Appeared to be High school or college size court, not NBA size.
The Exterior.
Google Map would not go down to the street level. So, unfortunately I have no idea what it look like. It says in the article that it is a Brick-building. The roof appeared to be Hip and Flat..
It is connected to the high school as it is merely within feet.
