Google Map. Presently as Skate World. Once was Middlesboro in the 1980s. Ohh, I love those brick buildings! Many of them in this neighborhood does. I think this street is a main street in that town.

This rink as Middlesboro Roller Rink was a short lived rink before it became the current rink-- Skate World at 2113 Cumberland Ave., Middlesboro, Kentucky. It was founded (registered) on May 6, 1983. It was opened sometime in 1983. Perhaps summer time. But it was closed sold or maybe reorganized to become Skate World.
It was both people, Louise Ball and Timothy B Matthews that started Middlesboro Roller Rink.
The start up year has a conflict. Rink Time said for Skate World, it was 1986 but for Manta, it said 1988. Please tell me which one is the year that really began?
The Interior.
I do not know what it was like back then but its all very updated interior with black light carpeting, It is pretty much a lot of stars and starbursts on it with an oval with the name of Skate World on it. Then there are painted walls and such. Floor is Log Cabin style Maple. There is a patch of floor that did not match to the rest of the rink. You can tell by the color. What was going on with that part? Water damages? At least they replaced the spot better than entire floor which is quite expensive to replace them all. I would say its cute with that.
The Exterior.
True classic Orange Bricks Free-Span Steel Truss Brick-Walled Store - like Building. I love bricks and always wanted to live in a brick loft building similar to a NYC Loft style. Exposed bricks and all. but this rink did not have it for interior. But the exterior seen above showed it has that classic look and they operated for quite a long time. Since MIddlesboro Roller Rink was opened in 1983, this rink lasted that long. The entire adulthood of my life since I graduated. Yes, I graduated in 1983 one month after Middlesboro rink was registered. That really flash back memories of me skating at Empire. Roller skating may have lost Empire Skates but gained Middlesboro but not long.
The store front has a lot of windows and three doors. I think the other doors were for small business as the rink's main door was on the left side.
