The current look today as Mantorville Opera House Roller Rink.
Mantorville Opera House Roller Rink 5 5th Street West, Mantorville, MN
It was not really called Mantorville Opera House Roller Rink but that was only way I can use that name for now for a former roller rink that was housed in the current rebooted Mantorville Opera House that was opened in 1918 after a terrifying fire that destroyed half of the town in a fire sweep. After the fire swept that block, they built that stone walled opera and ran for a few years before it went on to become an illegal bar or speak-easy in the 1920s.
The opera house before the bar was a place where traveling shows came for all sort of entertainments. But that entertainment became illegal with a speakeasy during the Prohibition of the 1920 to 1933. After that, it became another kind of entertainment-- a movie house in 1930s until unknown when. Then it became a roller rink before it became a city hall, and as a civic center.
It was 1970 which began a restoration back to the opera house like it was in 1918.
The roller rink was there for a period of time but problem was it was not know when. I researched for a while today. Unable to find out about this rink.
