Courtesy of Magic Wheels Skate Center. Noticed the differences? Yes, the Dark Brown trims on the walls! Bricks Veneer wall as well. I love it! And the tone of color. Looks very 1970s but this building was built in 1984. Was it taken at the time? Very much possible! It sure does give that grainy film on brown film. Perhaps Kodak by the look of it. I am not sure.

One thing I like about those benches that they are well organized by colors. Reminded me of Friendly's Ice Cream Restaurant uses that method because they have color materials on their back pads to match to their plastic floorplan at the host's booth. It helps to know which sever are serving. Did they have a server for each section? That would be very unusual for a rink. You can tell with those colors AND the buckets for washing the dinettes on food cart.
They painted over the wood into Blue color. Yellow bathrooms!? Yuck. Blue is a lot better. Below courtesy of Weichert.

Courtesy of Weichert. My concern is about the skate rental. Why is that the only place so hideous? Wall with casing windows? Everything else is open but that. This gives you a scare away feeling. Needs to open up the wall and just a big counter. That will work. You need to really move that up closer to the admission door and the store up in the middle (behind the photographer in this above photo). That will bring more income for the rink, not dark hidden corner as you can see that for yourself.
Those doors were party rooms I believe. But they look like a dormitory or even a city jail. I have seen those doors on those two institutions. That is because I lived in a dormitory when I went to a residential school for the Deaf and I went to see the new city jail in an open house. Very similar. I love the colors which helps parents and kids to know which rooms to go to but I think the doors should be changed. More of a main entrance doors with more glass that is shatterproof and windows for skaters and kids to see the rink or for kids to find the right room by looking through. I recommend changes. Unless those rooms are jail-like called time out rooms. Is that illegal? In NYS it is illegal. I do not know about Tennessee though.
Above two courtesy of Weichert. The second photo I can see very clear what the carpet is like and the floor. Uh oh. Spots. Easy to replace with carpetiles! That is good news. Should have done before the photographer came over to post in the website. ALWAYS renovate your rink before you sell. That gives you three times more investment returns when you sell. Did you ever watched HGTV, Hometime, and This Old House? I have. It starts right at your home by watching shows about renovations and for to sell. (I change it, ok, HGTV?) Am I right, Bob, Norm, David, and many other hosts?

All starbursts or stars with some whirls for glow carpets.

Magic Wheels Skate Center 1112 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN
Ritz Magic Wheels 1112 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN (STILL OPERATIONAL!)
Ritz Magic Wheels 1112 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN (STILL OPERATIONAL!)
Magic Wheels Skate Center was operational from 1984 till August 17, 2020 on 1112 Highway 45 Bypass, Jackson, Tennessee. The rink was sold in August 2020 and it became Ritz Magic Wheels. Ritz Magic Wheels is still operational and a successful rink.
The new owners renovated during the COVID lockdowns and fixed the placed up here and there as well they were already reopened.
The original owner which opened in August 23, 1984 was Doug Watts and it was a family business including his daughter, Jennifer and Doug's sons. But by 2018, Doug had health reasons which he wanted to retire and focus on other things as he wanted to slow down. His children took over but they could not do it alone which limited themselves. They prefer to sell the rink business and they did sell it two years alter and it became Ritz under new management.
The building was sold on August 17, 2020 to the owners of the Ritz Magic Wheels. It was sold for 485,500 USD. Not bad price in 2020 for this good size rink. That surprised me. I thought maybe 600,000 USD. Originally for 945,000 USD.
The Interior.
It is a beautiful interior with pretty much blue and white colors but the way it was designed, it was colorful enough in there here and there such as party room doors were each one colored so that staff can tell parents which room color it was. And the rink itself is Polyurethane coated, non-color rink with Maple wood floor in LOG Cabin layout. It has no rails around the rink.
The Ceiling was very bright and sort of high with White panels and once popular Starburst Disco Lights. They even have X Disco Lights as well as the Mirrored Ball.
The layout had the games on one end, the party rooms on other end, the one side has it all: bathrooms, DJ both, locker, prizes booth, and skate rentals all that in order from left to right seeing from the rink floor. Eating area and snack bar as well.
I like this layout and spacious feel. Very open and colorwise too because it gave you more spacious feel for such a place and without cinderblocks half-wall rails. None of that. This is pretty much open. Its the half walls that makes the place feel bigger. The floor is beautiful. I would recommend this rink to many skaters in that region in Western Tennessee and a good distance away from Bristol Skateway which is another one of the best rinks in the nations. This is closely second however, it will add a laser tag and I wonder where they will put it? Good question!
It has three bathrooms, 2 public and 1 private for staff only.
Some of the photos from Weichert Real Estate website were taken as of July 12, 2018 and the renovation by the original owners did are shown however, the interior was renovated again in 2020-2021 after the purchase by current owners of Ritz, they changed again.
The Exterior.
It is a very interesting 1980s with a 1970s flair to the building. It has Stone and Brick Veneer wall columns with Stucco over Cinderblocks wall that it is unique and different. It has an off Salmon color on the walls. It gives that Floridan look in Tennessee. It has a faux Mansard roof that appeared on front wall with the huge words, SKATING IS GREAT. That was their slogan and perhaps still is.
The Dark Brown trims were up since they first opened in 1984 however, they removed that or painted over in after 2010 because that photo was posted on Facebook in 2010. Maybe earlier than 2010.
They have a beautiful sign with neon lights on. It was 1950s in 1980s look. I am sure Ritz Magic Wheels kept as it is to keep as original. I hope so!
