Lebnadrome Roller Skating Rink 6th and Willow St., Lebanon, PA
Lebnadrome Roller Skating Rink 6th and Willow St., Lebanon, Pennsylvania was one of unique roller rink in Lebanon because of its design. it is ironic that the rink was built inside a pre-existing market house on Sixth and Willow Streets.
its official opening on Saturday, 16 December 1939. That was second weekend the United States already in Second World War. Talk about timing. But it did open anyway.
The roller rink had 16,000 Square Feet of floor space. It had Hardwood Maple floor with a Hammond Electric Organ. They had free dance skating lessons. It operated year-round, hosting everything from competitive events, school dances, and Girl’s Nites, to parties celebrating major holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine’s Day.
In June of 1950, the Young Democrats Club opened up the building that the rink occupied, having turned part of the space into a grill. The Club’s occupation did not last very long, as a fire occurred on 06 March 1952 “completely destroyed” the building, as a Lebanon Daily News report noted at the time. Nobody was seriously injured, but the fire’s million-dollar damages effectively shut down any hopes of a reopened rink.
