Google Map. Taken in April 2008. Enchanced by Mark Falso/Dead-Rink to brightened the photo. It was very gloomy and dark in the photo. Now it looks daytime! Noticed the front wall had multi-colored brick wall? it does bring out characters.
Courtesy of Lobservateur. Updated look for the former LaPlace Skate Center.

LaPlace Skate Center as well as Riverland's Skate Center and Rollerland's Skate Center were at 1005 Cambridge Dr, LaPlace, Louisiana.
Not much information regarding to Rollerland's but Riverland's was operational til the 1 and 2 punch hurricanes namely Katrina and Rita in 2005 that was the United States' worse disaster history since.. I do not know. All I do know that Morris T. Guidry operated Riverland's Skate Center from Incorporated on 6 March 1987; opened 1987 and closed on August 2005
LaPlace Skate Center only lasted merely FIVE months! It was an attempt to reboot interests in roller skating but no one wanted to go skating. So, they closed up after 5 months to prevent the bleeding of financial ruins. Nolan Noel Sr. opened in December 2017 only to shut down in May 2018.
Chief of Police Nolan Noel Sr. operated the LaPlace Skate Center. He thought that there were a need to have family oriented recreation in St. John the Baptist Parish so he sacrifice by closing his other rink in Opelousas, Louisiana to open Laplace Skate Center at the site where Riverlands Skate Center used to be. Same location. More about Nolan, he opened and operated seven rinks including the LaPlace Skate Center. It was only the LaPlace rink to fall flat from the start. He did it successfully at other rinks. Unfortunately, Nolan plans not to open another rink and strongly encouraged any prospective operators to consider other locations in the same town where parents feel safer.
I can see the neighborhood on Google Map that
He believed it was the neighborhood was not in excellent ideal of location as Nolan heard from parents telling him that it was not an ideal place.
I can understand that and what he was trying to revitalize at the same location where Riverlands used to be. Likely he overlooked the fact about the downfall of the neighborhood. Of course, he had security guard. But it was not enough and this is why parents did not bring children. December when he opened was great, but decline quickly to about 30 patrons to skate in a session. That is not enough. A rink can hold 200 to 400 patrons depending on size. Can go bigger if huge rink.
After Nolan closed up LaPlace Skate Center in May 2018, it became a non-denomination church. In 2008 opening, it was a flooring store.
Likely this is the rink Nolan closed for LaPlace to open, Opelousas Skate Center. I am not sure.
Riverlands also spells as Riverland's depends on what you read or know about. One and the same.
The Interior.
Not much to explain since I have no pictures. However, in the article Nolan stated there is a separate room akin to a crying room in Catholic Churches, but not a crying room. It was a separate viewing room for parents to sit in nice movie theater seating to watch children skate if the parents do not want to skate. Pretty cool! Sure beats the movie theaters! Hee hee.
The Exterior.
Originally unknown because of the Hurricane Katria in 2005 destivated the region in Louisiana as well as Rita but was rebuilt and it was a different business. Anyone has photos of the rink before the hurricane in 2005?
They painted the bricks from Natural Multi-Colors to painted Tan. Truly ruined the appearance but it did look modernize with the paint.
