The rink as seen in background that proves it was concrete. And the sign that says Skate. But no cowboy statue! New revealing from Google Map showed no cowboy but listen, its a good landmark to find where the rink used to be. When you want to see where the rink was, have to find the cowboy and the rink is in the back of the parking lot where this dealership now filled with cars.
Both of Google Map. You see the Cowboy? Now can you find him in the bottom photo? See how the cement paved on the road divides the two tar top parking lot. The parking lot for the rink. Can you find the rink itself? You sure can because it is Soft Blue-Grey concrete floor still exist. Although there are cracks now. You can also see the outline of the building itself. Apparently the main door entrance is on front right side as you can see in the photo. On right side is the shed building for the RV park. This is a must stop for off-Route 66 the Mother Road for fans of Route 66.
Landmark Skate Center, 1409 N Osage, Nevada, MO
This rink was opened by Donna Kerr. This is not to be confused with Landmark 2 Skate Center which is located in Lee's Summit, Missouri. You would end up getting that website and rink if you were to look for the rink. So, there are not much information either.
Manta.com has Landmark Skate Center profile removed and Yelp saying it is closed.
There is no photos. None. Only I could use Google Map to find the building and I found was it was demolished. Likely it was part of that RV park as I kind of figured it had several entertainment including mini golf, swimming pool, a very long shed-like for perhaps parties for their campers. The rink was just next door. You can even see in 2019 aeriel view of the rink! Yes, you still can see that Faint Blue concrete floor and the browning of the ground that has no grass was the outline of the rink. Did the automobile dealership next door buy out and had it demolished? It made sense because you can see it is full of new automobiles in those photos.
I believe that is there the iconic Americana statue! The cowboy in his stern face with two revolvers in his hands. Larger than life still standing. Was that for the rink? The name Landmark did not sound matching to the cowboy. But that is where the statue stands still on that same property. Must be the car dealership put it up for Route 66, the Mother Road which is not that far. It is worth a stop for you, the fans of Route 66 if that is your liking.
I would appreciate photos, information about the rink, first opened, closed, reason for closure, torn down,
