Courtesy of Google Map. The entire Dark Brown building is currently being used as the Vineyard Church. They installed windows, etc. I think the church needs to brighten their building to more of what God would like to see. I am disappointed in the town for cutting down beautiful trees that was lined up to the road if you look back to older pictures on GM! That is why you cannot see any in this picture.
Kimberly Pines Skate Center 2402 W Kimberly Rd, Davenport, IA
This nice sounding name for a rink was held in Davenport, Iowa. It began with the registration for the new rink on November 22, 1985. Oh wow, the date! Great Scott! Pretty close to when Marty McFly and Doc flew around that time. It was Marty.
Anyway! It was in this Gabled Roofed Free-Span building that looked more like a warehouse with an extension out-built for admission.
I tried to find more about the rink but I could not find closing date or even photographs of this former rink.
They closed on or around 2002 or 2003 because the Vineyard Church bought the former rink and started to renovated in August 2003. They renovated every weekend because church members and church leaders had to work during the week. The building is around 23,000 Square Feet.
I would appreciate photos, more information, flyers, anything to do with this rink! Please let me know!
The Interior.
23,000 SF but I have no idea what it was like inside the rink at all.
The Exterior.
I do not know what color it was. But I do know the fact it was housed in a Gabled Roof, Free-span Steel with Steel sheets walled warehouse-like building. There is a out-built section that was admissions. Still there but currently as a Vineyard Church. Praise God there is a place for fellowship although not a rink anymore. The out-built has Red bricks. That echo to many Skate Country design.
