Keener's Shore Palace Madison on the Lake, Madison, OH was once a roller rink in 1930s till early 1950s operated by Cottlieb Keener. I do not have much information.
However, from two Billboard magazines, a very brief article and a classified ad tells a story. Funny thing is that both of the article and ad had mentioned the Hammond Organ! First was the installment in April 1945 a Hammond Organ. It was so because maybe he needed a new organ to replace aging organ. However, he was putting that up for sale along with other equipment from his rink in May 1951. That is six years apart. Apparently he was going out of business because he was selling just about everything in 1951. So, it might be true that C. Keener opened in 1945 and closed for good six years later. Unless anyone can come forward to tell me more about this place.
It is said to be it was located cross the street from Madison Township Park.
The Interior.
It was a roller rink and a dance hall. Maple wood floor is likely.
The Exterior.
It was a Free-Span Steel Trusses Stucco - Walled Warehouse - like Building with a Gabled Roof. It appeared to be two story. Only the front part was a two story with possibility of either just offices upstairs or an apartment upstairs.
