Logo courtesy of Hot Wheels Skating Palace. Nice simple monochrome logo.
Courtesy of Google Map. Noticed castle like. In modern look.
Courtesy of Vintage Realty. Better picture of the rink. Noticed the green roof section on the left? It is not part of the rink but part of the entire property. It said to be 2 lots on there that are for sale. But mentioned the rink is for sale. So, its not clear.
The interior layout as seen above is very similar and actually the same as the Bossier City Hot Wheels location.
Courtesy of Hot Wheels Skating Palace. Nice and clean interior design. Sparkling clean talbes and chairs. They look new to me. That was before the carpet was replaced.
Courtesy of Hot Wheels of Wonder. This is all new carpet lay down in June 2020. This is their staging to get the rink looks good for their real estate sale. Looks great carpet! I know its tough to sell now since November 2019! But skating is back.
All 4 photos above are courtesy of fans of the rink on Yelp. Nice carpettiles. A nice fusion of mix. What really impressed is very clean updated look of the snackbar in neon lights. Many rinks lately are doing this with neon lights which are made a comeback since 1980s-early 1990s look. Easier to read the sign and their clear posting of brands they sell at the snack bar.
Photo collatage by Hot Wheels Skating Palace on Facebook. As you can see the changes from Lime Green to Blue. From 2000s look to 2010s look. Both were trendy looks of their respective decades. But where does the red walls fits? That one was taken from a fan on Yelp. That photo is also courtesy of Dead-Rinks due to alternations to the photo for security and safety reasons you can spot easily.

Hot Wheels Skating Palace was located at this rink before it became Hot Wheels of Wonder at 5110 W Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA. The rink as Hot Wheels Skating Palace closed some time ago and became Hot Wheels of Wonder which is still operational but the building is for sale according to at least 3 real estate websites.
Hot Wheels of Wonder and its predecessor both shared a common name but the differences gave away. Skating Palace was the original name since you can tell with the castle / fort like. Then the next generation changed by dropping that and add "of Wonder". The name could have become this, Hot Wheels Skate Castle. Just a bit easier to identified with the name for castle-like frontage. Actually the rest of the building looked more like a common Steel walled warehouse-like building.
It is up for sale at 895,000 USD according to several sites. Is the sale could spell doom for Hot Wheels of Wonder? I fear not. Sometimes several ways it could happen which I fear of: New owner could kick out the rink business. The for sale I see are for the building, not about the rink business that is for sale. Second of all, could be that new owners could buy the building and raise the lease/rent much higher that could force the rink to close for good or forcing to relocate which is quite expensive. Very expensive because of the floor which is the most expensive and relocating is impossible this way. Not every commercial building has a floor like that! Most are concrete and redo it.. forget it. Skaters, please ask your favorite rink owners and talk to them about the floor and you will be shocked.
The Interior.
It does give a nice comfortable modern looking rink with ever changing colored walls. At one point it was rather Dark Red followed by Lime Green walls with Dark Red and Dark Blue colors on steel trusses. Then it became Royal Blue, kind of though. The changes really makes the place truly updating quite often and the modern carpetiles I like. It does give that more neutral and natural feel to the interior. It is a simple rink yet, I praise them for excellent job in updating and making the place very up-to-date look as today rinks people are giving off same criticism on Yelp, Trip Advisor, and any other websites that allowed patrons to complain.
From my perspective on how they did with updating, this is one of most ongoing updating rink I ever seen. Sure, one went out of business but the other took over and re-fresh the look inside to separate themselves from the previous owner. The current state of Blue is ongoing popular color that lasted from 2010s will be remaining with them as it is for other businesses around the world because of the current state of trendy colors. Thanks to remodelers you seen on home improvement shows and channels. Surely starts at rinks! A twist to their slogan for a certain channel. Right David B.?
I recommend owners take a look at this rink now before they are closed up for good because the building is up for sale. The reason for visiting this one is how they kept changing interior and the unique look on the outise that featured a castle look.
There are in fact some rinks used to be castle like frontage and one somewhere in mid-west still operate with the castle look exterior. I visited one in California that is now closed the same way.
The floor is Walnut. Which is rarely chosen for a rink and it is softer floor wood compared to popular Maple. The Walnut floor has 1010 mar in the Janka Rating system compared to 1480 which belongs to common Maple floor. Having said, the Brazilian Cherry is the hardest wood anywhere in the world. I experienced that wood by touching and feeling a pre-cut block at my brother's carpenter shop. It does give that very hard wood feel and dark too. Way dark. And the most expensive too.
In June 2020, they renovated the rink getting rid of unique carpetiles for a glow color carpet. The original had carpetiles in eating area and high-wire spool beaches areas but the carpet on each side of the rink was plain sand color carpet which looked very dated. The colors on wall kept changing yes. But it was the carpet needed done too. So, now they have installed the new carpet during lockdown which is excellent time to change as many businesses of any kinds have done.
The rail between the rink and eating area is awesome Red Bricks to separate. This concept is very common in Louisiana and Alabama rinks and maybe Georgia too. Must be same chain owned them at one time or another. Or copied.
The Exterior.
The exterior has unique design. It has both Bold Red and White colors that separated each part of the castle wall-like. It does give that castle/fort feel frontage with part of the building you see the front especially on the left side is a mismatch. What behind that faux wall is the common Gable roofed Free-span Steel Truss Steel-Sheet walled Warehouse like building. What a mouthful for me to say but it is true about this building. It did give that red-and-white stripes look which resembled to a jumbo tent found at circuses and caravels as well as state fairs. I like the uniqueness of this faux front to make it look like a palace which was meant for the original name.
The Stats:
Rink Size: 18,000 SF. Floor: Walnut (1010 Mar grade in the Janka Rating which is softer than common favorite Maple at 1480 Mar grade). Floor Layout: LOG CABIN.
Building Size: 30,040 SF. Built: N/A. Demolished: Still standing.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse Building.
Roof: Gable.
Acres: 2.88 Acres.
Operated: N/A.
Hot Wheels Skating Palace: N/A to c. 2017.
Hot Wheels of Wonder: 2017 to Present. Still operational.
Reason for Closure:
Hot Wheels Skating Palace: N/A.
Hot Wheels of Wonder: STILL OPERATIONAL.
Wanted: Information regarding dates of opened, closed. Why Skating Palace closed?
