All photos above courtesy of Google Map. Notice that the sign was there in year 2012 (and 2013) but the 2012 are shown. And the bottom is the 2018. They are gone. See here. All except for bottom was Hot Wheels. Bottom was the rebooted Rockridge Roller Rink.
Courtesy of North West Georgia News. This showed what the interior was like under Hot Wheels. Royal Blue with Sky-Blue on the walls and Yellow rail. They even had Tan carpeting in the snack bar section as seen in the photo. The rebooted version removed that carpet to restore to classic look. Those three dark squares you seen in photos are fans to cool inside.
All 7 courtesy of the Brookshire Family/FB. Beautiful rink! Sad it is closed. They tried again but for one simple thing.. Really broke my heart today.

Hot Wheels Skating Center in Rome, GA has quite a weird setting in the internet search. They are saying they are still in business. Even Yelp did not say they are out of business. BUT Google Map says they are out of business because of photo evidence showed no name on the sign anymore. This means I have to agree with their evident that they are closed. No website! Nothing. Anyone knows if they are really opened or not? The 2019 photo showed they are no name on it. But older photos yes.
And there were Savannah Skate Inn and Rockridge Roller Rink as well. They were there before Hot Wheels Skating Center.
What was started was Rockridge Roller Rink originally opened in the early ’60s by the Brookshire family as Randall Brookshire operated the rink for over 30 years before retiring.
Then likely in 1990s, it became Savannah Skate Inn. then the Hot Wheels, the final rink.
Donnie Gerrin and his wife Becky Gerrin owned the Hot Wheels Skating Center. They even had a mini-golf course as well. I did not see that on the map photograph above at all. Pretty hidden. It is up front. If you can see the Royal Blue outline, that was behind that wall where the mini-golf course was. 18 hole Putt-Putt® style but I doubt it was that brand. Top view makes it look like that.
Google Map showed "House for rent" right there. Right by the sign. That is in the 2012 photograph.
Since I take their word that they are gone, they are gone. their website on the NW Georgia News will direct you to North Carolina and another link I got off of another website about this rink leads to a different Hot Wheels too. Exact same website name and spelling but I got two different ones and I am sure you tried yours and you will end up with even another one. That showed me this Rome, Georgia rink has closed for sure. If you try to find that website, you might end up with another Hot Wheels! True! I have a few Hot Wheels that are closed that are on my Dead-Rinks US list.
What is more strange is that Rockridge, the original rink has a name returned in Bizapedia at the same location in Rome, GA is a Limited-Liability Company filed on November 30, 2016. The company's filing status is listed as Active/Compliance. Are they back? Yes, they were back just for a brief time. They ran from Friday October 14, 2016 to August 16, 2018. Not even two years.
Trolls are normally the ones can cause problems when they post on Facebook, Yelp, or anything like that wanting to destroy a business because they just do not like something. In this case, it was not the business's fault. It is but it was not because NO one told the management about such problem and this troll explained on Facebook and this is why they are closed. Did the police close them? I will find out. Hopefully I will get an answer. From what I am reading in between the lines. It was more of the troll wanting to cause trouble. Should have told the management directly in person rather than do it online. I would never do that. That is called COMMUNICATION, skaters! And Managers/Operators/Owners/Staff. And security people too. Communication is very important to talk about issues that can improve the business and customer service. Please do LISTEN to your customers, owners.
I really feel bad for the Brookshire Family. What will they do now? Was it a drug seizure of this place? It did happened to another entertainment center that the police knew about drugs among people at an place. That was Buttons Arcade on Teall Ave in Syracuse, NY that they had the Rave dance at 2 in the morning at Buttons and police knew about drugs and they had a raid. So, immediately it became a bottle return place and 2 doors down, a Billiard Hall closed. Making less entertainment availability less and less. It is sad. Buttons was seized by police.
Dear Brookshire Family, if you still own this building, please consider reopening the rink for people you can trust. Hire security, do check up and even check temperature and all because of illnesses spreading.
The Interior.
I do not know what the original look like inside. I mean the colors and all. But the interior remains the same. Carpet less floor, all Concrete, all even in snack bar area. They have steel rail around the wall and around the snack bar separating from the rink.
When it was Hot Wheels, It was Royal Blue bottom (the height of the rail) with Sky-Blue walls, but it had yellow rail. Then when the rebooted Rockridge opened, they already painted new fresh hues of colors of 1990s that makes it very modern and inviting. It has no "Oh that 1980s retro rink feeling to it." None of that.
I would loved to have that rink stay opened so I would have seen it and would have given high grades for such rink. I would have recommended people who wants to see other rinks when they want to start their own rink, this would have been one of a few rinks people could have visited. Like the one at Skate Daze in Omaha, Nebraska that was recently closed last year. The design was very unique. I am sure other rinks too that I have not even researched yet or not listed yet.
The rebooted rink was very much modernism interior with the colors although the appearance was still intact even way back to the 1960s.
The Exterior.
Based from Google Map that is the only one I can see. It is a Gable Cinderblock building that appeared very basic with small windows around the rink. Apparently this has to be old building. Must have been a rink for a long time but as for Hot Wheels, perhaps it was another rink. If anyone gives me more information, then I will update this profile.
The color appeared to be Cream White. Or Off-White. Very simple. They painted in Royal Blue bottom part of the building (foundation) with the original family that owned the original and rebooted Rink.
They had a mini golf course during the Hot Wheels Era. It was removed and replaced with a playground including simple seesaw, benches, and basketball hoops.
