Hot Wheels Recreation Center 424 Nash Road, New Bedford, MA
Hot Wheels Recreation Center was opened in 1980 at 424 Nash Road in New Bedford, Massachusetts. They were opening at the end peak of Roller Disco era when Disco was killed off by angry Rock-n-Roll fans that summer in Cincinnati, Ohio. Anyway, the rink lasted about 25 years before it demised in Mid-2000s (sold twice in 200s, both in 2004 and in 2005). Facebook did not have any information at all. They had Facebook account perhaps at the very start in 2004 when Facebook was launched in February 4, 2004 so that dates when the rink closes between Facebook launching and building sold in October 24, 2005 as told by Realty Trac. Or maybe they closed in December 9, 2004.
The building was sold a few times before actually. In August 28, 1987 and December 9, 2004. Did the rink go out of business in 1987 or in 2004 or even 2005?
Nicholas and Jo-An Parente opened the rink. After the closure, it became an indoor football center. The ownership of the rink may have been sold along with the building in 1987. Who knows.
The location was pretty well spotted as the importance of setting a business-- location, location, location. The walking score was well at 72 point score. But the transit scoring was 32 points. So, this spot was pretty well. In fact, highest since they started doing this and since I started Dead-Rinks.
The building has seen a few for sales since 2005. I believe that is when the rink went out of business. Realty Trac said it was sold on October 25, 2005. Then sold again in between then up for sale since 2017.
Well, I overlooked. Coldwell Banker said that the indoor football business was established in 2005. Making that building was sold in end of 2004 and the building was sold in 2005 but kept the football (although another football business is there or was there since it is up for sale again). Although Coldwell Banker said the indoor soccer facility also housed roller skating! Really? This means they had roller skating also till now?
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
It was a simple Sheet metal walled warehouse with Free-Span Steel Truss. Gable roof, of course... Original colors I do ot know but the indoor football (you call it soccer) has American Patriotic colors of Red-White-Blue on the walls.
It sits in a group of other similar structure warehouse like buildings.
