Trulia. Likely this was taken in between 1999 and 2013.
Google Map, taken in 2013, before this church purchased it.
Hood’s Skating Rink 130 Washington St, Stanton, KY
Hood's Skating & Pizza Inc. 130 Washington St, Stanton, KY
Hood's Skating & Pizza Inc. 130 Washington St, Stanton, KY
This roller rink, Hood’s Skating Rink 130 Washington St, Stanton, Kentucky was named after the Hoods who owned it. Larry and Pamela Hood registered it in 1995. The registration was dated on May 15, 1995 and opened that summer or fall that year. But it was short lived. So was the name Hood's Skating & Pizza Inc. They operated as two in one. Normally pizza are part of roller rinks for quite a long time.
They operated and closed sometime ago. Google Map showed only 2013 so apparently the rink folded before that year.
For a time, it was a diner. Likely that diner closed before Google Map took that picture. So, likely before that diner. Anybody know?
Currently Harbor Light Worship Center is housed there.
The Interior.
According to the church videos, it shows a low ceiling White Panel. Perhaps they did replacement. I am not sure what the original look was like.
The Exterior.
The buildings were bit old fashioned with sort of a Box Box roof half way through and the other part Gable roof. The roof color is Astroturf Green. I think it is really Astroturf lay on the roof. Bit silly but it sure does looked that way.
White walls.. All Wood. There is only 4 parking space in front and so if anyone wanted to skate, I am sure kids walked there but also parents or skaters drove and had to park along the side. A photograph of the church presently showed at least 8 cars parked in that 4 slot spot! My goodness, where are people going to park!? I am sure the idea back then was people walked to the rink to skate. Many age old rinks were in residential neighborhood. A rink I did a profile about two months ago, it showed the same concept. No parking lot, just along a dirt road in the neighborhood full of houses. Very similar. I can tell for modern day, you have to have a rink in a well spot that has large number of parking space and more constructive concept of architectural design for a rink. It is a far cry from yesteryear.
Although this rink was established in 1995. Actual date of built likely much older. 1940s? 1950s? God knows when this was built and opened as something else. Or maybe was a rink that far back.
