Homewood Roller Rink 7076 Big Beaver Blvd, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. It was a roller rink at one time before it became Blazers Flea Market. It was incorporated on 12 May 1986 so apparently it was opened that year but I do not know when they closed.
After Blazers Flea Market closed, the building was demolished in around 2016. Finally a new built for a firework store is in its place and closer to the road. The new fireworks store was built in 2020.
The rink operators were Michael and Pauline Szimkanich. The Szimkanich family operated entirely. Anyone know when they first opened, and closed and why?
We DO NOT recommend you to watch the video on YouTube because of two things, the person who film this.. Did he have permission to film it inside and 2nd of all, it has vulgar and sexual tone on walls that we do not find this in good taste and is a violation of our policy.
The Interior.
The interior. Well, based on a very poor video I saw on YouTube that it is not listed here for a good reason. But I checked the interior based on the video, the walls had 3 hues of purple-violet colors. Violet, then Purple, then a very faint hue of Violet.
The rink floor was Maple Hardwood that was Log Cabin layout thanks to the camera that someone who entered to film the place.
When you enter, the Concession Stand was to the right front corner and it had Arcade games against the front wall interior. The half-wall Concrete around the rink. There were other parts I could not see and when I freeze up, I could not tell what they are. Yes, there was an upstairs apartment. Likely the residents were the rink operators. It was said to be also a motel on the right half of the building if you were standing from the road. it had Gambrel barn-like front that had doors to enter. That part was for the motel I believe.
The Exterior.
I do not know what color walls on the exterior when it first opened in 1986 but toward the end, it had Navy Ship Gray wall all around and it was not matchable. Half of the building-- left half was very much like a Big Box 1950s style because it had Glass Blocks on windows, the size of windows, the canopy.. very much of a 1950s look (what was it there at that time?
Then you have that Gambrel barn-like front where the doors were. Yes, you would see two doors. One to enter to the rink, the other to the motel which was to the Right. Both did not match their appearance.
Since it was abandoned for many years, grass were literally growing out of the cracks of the parking lot and tall as knees height. This shows us that it was abandoned at least 10 years from the time that video was made in mid-2010s before it was demolished in 2016. That places to 2005-6ish when they closed.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
