Greenfield Skate-A-Rama 1813 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA. Ohh, I LOVE architecture renderings such as this one! Not those CAD thing which is too realistic. Blah. I could not name the architectural firm who did the rendering and blueprint. Anyone? It appeared to be "A. Troupe Martiti & Assoc." I googled but could not find that firm. Partners may have retired or passed or they sold the practice to another firm because this design was in mid-1970s before it was built in 1978. Courtesy of (that architect firm).

Greenfield Skate-A-Rama 1813 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA. Got your keys, skaters? Ok, good, Just do not lose it! Haha. Right? This layout design looks very familiar. I just worked on a rink just days ago and the layout location of lockers and the windows were opened for skate rentals were in the same location. Greenfield Skate-A-Rama 1813 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA. As United States Postal Services or known as USPS, the Post Office. Or nicknamed as "The Blue." You can see at least 4 mailboxes. They painted to match the rest of the building by painting over the Dark Brown to avoid the confusion for Americans that they may think it was UPS nicknamed as "The Browns". Then what is White? Dark Blue? Yellow? (FedEx, Amazon, and DHL in that order). STILL very modern in 2020s. Has no feel of being dated. Courtesy of Loop Net.

Greenfield Skate-A-Rama 1813 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA. It was Ned Cramer Jr and Florence Cramer opened the rink on Sunday, 29 October 1978 at 1:30 PM and operated until January 1986. They did not provide reason why they closed but broke their lease agreement for some reason.
The rink building was quite modern and stylish for 1978. Pink Bricks, Rounded corners, and contemporary
style for this building. I love the style. Not many rinks have this modern look. A few did. It was build in an industrial park where other businesses were set up in an area. This rink building and location reminded me of a rink that was closed in past 2 or 3 years in I believe in North Carolina or South Carolina. Bricks, industrial park, modern. That feel. Also similar to the closing Lombard Roller Rink.
The rink operators cancelled the lease and the local post office took over in 1986 however, the post office relocated in 2018 and now it is something else because someone took over on 17 September 2018.
The Interior.
The roller rink floor was 80' wide by 180' long Non-colored Polyurethane coated Hardwood Maple. I do not know what layout they had. Anyone? There are no photos available for this rink.
Perhaps they had raw brick walls (non-painted) for the walls and rails. Who knows! I love the look. A very few rinks had that appearance. From I am seeing on the exterior, likely the interior was the same unless they did painted the walls. Grr.
The Exterior.
It was a 22,000 Square Foot Contemporary style Commercial Brick building. Pink Bricks. The style for the front door was also unique. That Salt-Box slant canopy was the style back in 1960s to 1970s. In fact, that exact same design I recalled in my drafting book I took in vocational training. It was published in 1960s but it was updated in late 1970s and was used in mid-1980s for my class. I still have them.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
