Green Mill Gardens Riverside Park, 231 McManness Avenue, Findlay, OH. Beautiful picture of the old rink sitting next to the dam. This appeared to be a later appearance because the newer larger building is shown here compared to the next photo which is an earlier photograph. Compare the roofline. To compare this from exact location, count 9 pictures (including the stickers) below this one, in color. Source: Findlay Historical Society.

Green Mill Gardens Riverside Park, 231 McManness Avenue, Findlay, OH. The interior of the rink. They had a band stand with a grand piano there already set. The yellow-ish ball you saw in the postcard was painted that color because it was supposed to be reflexed off of the wood floor on that mirror ball. Source: Findlay Historical Society.

Green Mill Gardens Riverside Park, 231 McManness Avenue, Findlay, OH. At first the Riverside Park was established in 1906 as a Trolley Park because passengers were transported by trolleys and train to the park and returned home the same manner.
In 1907, the newest building was built that year as Green Mill Gardens where the dance hall was. Also the 2000 seat auditorium was built as well for stage theater.
The historical marker the 2 organizations: The Historical Preservation Guild of Hancock County Hancock Park District and the Ohio Historical Society failed to mention the roller rink on their historical marker. This is quite odd but no worries, I have the further information found in elsewhere. The information is exactly said from Hancock Historical Museum:
A dance pavilion located in the center of the park was constructed in 1907. Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Davis ran the two-story building, and Mrs. Davis was the dance instructor. On June 27, 1907, the pavilion opened with Professor Wineland’s orchestra providing the music.
By the mid-1920s, the City of Findlay began to think about building a more up-to-date dance pavilion at Riverside Park. The old dance pavilion was condemned by the state, when it was discovered that the frame supports were rotting. The city purchased the old ice house property from Kranz Brewery owner William Altmeyer, and began building the Green Mill [Gardens]. The building was opened on June 11, 1925.
The Green Mill [Gardens] hosted many famous orchestras and bands over the years, such as Guy Lombardo, Woody Herman, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, the Glenn Miller Group, and Count Basie. [Also Conway Twitty, & Alice Cooper]. Eventually the building turned into a roller skating rink. In 1977, it was discovered that the building was structurally unsound, and the building was torn down.
I was truly able to find out when they actually began the roller rink. It was in 1936. NOT when the new dance pavilion opened because all other sites said about the building was opened on 11 June 1925. Only one source truly knew when and that was Social Findlay that had more defined information. Once again, NOT 11 June 1925.
It was sinking towards the river and beyond repairs for this aging building in the 1970s forced the rink to close and demolished. Now stands is the outdoor picnic pavilion. with markers there including one that said welcoming to the historic park.
This amusement park and rink was owned and operated by the City of Findlay, Ohio. The management at the time according to Billboard on 1 April 1951, page 87. Column 1. It was a team of two management members: Fred Folk and Harry Wineland.
The Interior.
The rink itself was small considering the building size at 7,200 Square Feet. It was part of Green Mill Gardens right by the Blanchard Creek and the shadow waterfalls. Its beautiful there and great photo opportunities for any park goers today to enjoy as they did in the past.
