Trip Advisor. Awesome sign and easy to read. Um.. is that Target way there on the right? Or is that Walmart? Never mind! Haha.
Great Skates Facebook Fan page (top and 3rd, and below). The logo followed by the exterior.... and close up seen below.
Great Skates Facebook Fan Page and Yelp. Oh wow, I like that money machine! No, not cash, but prizes were named on coupons.
Great Skates Facebook Fan page. I LOVE this design. Very unique. Love the colors and well balanced. It is the 2020 and beyond popular colors now according to a trade journal for designers that I receive. They said those two colors are in now because of the way it is global pandemic happening. People needs yellow now to be bright and active and purple.. well, its a reminder of what is happening like the browns and yellows of 1930s for people living through the Great Depression. COVID lockdown is the Great Suppression.
Not just the color, I love the wave look on those walls to separate the rink and the rest of the place and I am sure it was installed to block skaters from sitting on the wall like I seen in many Youtube videos and photographs of Dead-Rinks rinks. It is not a place to sit!

Great Skates Facebook. Oh man! What a storm blew out the sign! BRR! By looking at this photo, I am COLD! Haha.

Great Skates with two other names which is one and the same which was held at 82 Sylvan Road, Bangor, Maine. This rink evidently closed in June 2016. First, it was opened in 1995.
The Interior.
It has had beautiful interior. The theme colors were Yellow, Purple, with White paints with natural wood for base guards, rails, but the rink was painted. I believe it was wood floor. But not sure. Maybe Concrete? Anyone can help me with this?
The Exterior.
The exterior was very modern Department Store look. Looks more like a Target, Walmart, and any stores of that sort of appearance. It was very clean and simple design with gray walls with a Navy Blue stripe around the building similar to what you see in a 2000s or 1990s department store look. The top above the blue stripe was lighter Gray than the Gray below the blue stripe. It was well balanced in design and comfort with ease for skaters to come. Appearance is important in marketing no matter what kind of retailor you are. In this case, it shows comfort. Again, Blue represents one of the two colors (Green is the other) that gives you comfort. Gray.. it was the trend with those two colors twenty years ago and ten years ago (speaking as in 2020).
I love this simple design that welcomes me into the rink. The sign too was really easy to read. White fonts on Navy Blue really helped. The problem was that they had those fake light blubs bordered the sign. Could have used actual 1950s style sign with actual light blubs to sparkle just like those back then if you remembered the 1950s or studied that decade or even seen in documentaries.
