Granite Skate, 22 Cherron Ave, Nashua, NH
This name, Granite Skate is named quite clearly for the nickname of New Hampshire-the Granite State.
This was a very short indoor rink, er, park! It was a skatepark for skateboarders, skaters, and BMX cyclists. It did not last very long. It lasted just merely 13 months in operations! One of the shortest in indoor facility related to this type of entertainment (including roller skating rinks).
It was established in May 2010 but opened for business April 16, 2011 but only to close in June 10, 2012. That was 14 months.
They closed because of unusual mild New Hamsphire winters hampered down the year old business. It was rather a warm winter that skaters spend time outdoors enjoying cool weather skateboarding, skating, and biking.
In today's world, for a first year business, it is quite hard to survive.
The interior floor had mostly wood. Floor/rink, ramps, and rail walls. All wood with some concrete for some other areas of the floor. Mainly wood.
It was quite simple design interior with a lot of ramps, banks, and walls. All wood but the main floor was concrete.
This has been few years since and I am not sure if they had reopened at a new location because they said they were hoping to reopen at a smaller venue. A lot of skaters were upset about the closing.
Could have had a chance the following winters if it was to be cold again. I recalled the winters of 2009 through 2012 were quite mild. Where I live (Syracuse, NY), it was like 47 to 60 every day in winters.
Summers time brings skaters outside. Any rinks or parks indoors can lose businesses during warm weather as from my skating experience between 1978 and present day).
