Garden Midway Rink State Highway 25, Burlington, NJ
Garden Midway Rink State Highway 25, Burlington, New Jersey. This rink was operational by Edwin Ruth. He owned other rinks in Trenton and Camden, New Jersey however, he sold them in 1943 to design and built a new rink, the Garden Midway Rink in 1946 that had 90 Feet by 220 Feet rink which was much larger than a NHL rink. This was impressive size and common with many rinks back the day in 1930s and 1940s.
It was opened in the Fall of 1946. Closure was not known. Exact location not known and the State Highway 25 is not found. Only I found: State Highway 130.. so, it may have been changed. Billboard Magazine did not show more results after 1948. Did something happen suddenly? Only ran 2 years? What?
Any one knows what happened to this rink. Quietly disappeared and no photos, nothing. Needs your help! Thank you.
The Interior.
They had two rink floors: the main and the practice. The main floor was, no surprising that it was larger than a standard professional hockey rink size at 90 Feet wide by 220 Feet long! (NHL is 85' x 200') and this might be the Olympic sized rink after all. They did also have a practice floor which was 16 Feet wide by 220 Feet long. 16' Wide is the same as a Single Wide trailer if you knew the width. That is quite long if you are beginner to skate. Back then, no Skate Mates you would call "Walkers on Wheels" Anyway, This showed how serious and large facility it was. Must be so big to house over maybe 2000 Skaters at one time depends on Fire Codes.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
