The Rink 1405 E Lakeshore Dr, Storm Lake, IA. Oh NO! No chasing what? I pray not has to do with chasing women! Does that means I cannot go meet the women on an adult night? Dang! Wink. Courtesy of The Rink Facebook Unofficial page.
The Rink 1405 E Lakeshore Dr, Storm Lake, IA. Admission prices as of 2023. Yes, very cheap! Today they run between 10 and 20 US Dollars. Small rink that I can understand that may be reason for cheap prices but also its a small town. In fact the rink was sitting right cross the main street from the lakeside park. Beautiful park there if you go to Google Maps and see it for yourself. Courtesy of The Rink Facebook Unofficial page.

The Rink 1405 East Lakeshore Drive, Storm Lake, Iowa (d.b.a.)
Funland 1405 East Lakeshore Drive, Storm Lake, Iowa was also known as The Rink. They just recently closed on 29 April 2023 after 50 years of rink operations. The Hadenfeldt Family purchased that rink in 1973 and renovated in 1976. Patriarch Vance Hadenfeldt loved to roller skate when he was younger and this is why he bought this rink which became Fun land d.b.a. The Rink. Then those two other names especially as The Rink. The last owner was Vance's son, Adah Hadenfeldt. The entire family owned the rink as a mom-and-pop business.
If they bought it in 1973, was there a roller rink before 1973 at that spot? Good question. Media said they BOUGHT the roller rink. Meaning it was operational at the time. Ah, read on!
An another article I caught as I published this said this was a gym at the time in 1973 and converted to a roller rink. The building was built in 1956.
As part of the remodel, the ceiling was lowered and the walls were covered with colorful shag carpet to deaden the sound.
Sadly, as the children got older and moved away, it became more difficult to manage The Rink, and recently, they announced they would be shutting down and selling the property. It might be sold to Kwik Trip according to Adah Hadenfeldt. Another gas station.
I looked into records and there is no for-sale advertisement. Loop Net has it as property-records. And no photos available. Unfortunately.
Fun Land d.b.a. The Rink was original name.

Fun land d.b.a. The Rink Said to be perhaps concrete floor because the Hadenfeldt Family renovated by adding wood floor AFTER they purchased and renamed as The Rink (Funland).
As part of the remodel, the ceiling was lowered and the walls were covered with colorful shag carpet to deaden the sound.
Funland: As I said, the Hadenfeldt Family renovated by adding clearcolor Polyurethane coated Hardwood Maple floor in Step-by-Step Log Cabin format.
The main color theme was Red. The carpet on the floor and the round bench I call it High-Wire Bench had beautiful carpet color and design. Really opposite of the current popular Black Light carpet. This was what stands out than any other rinks.
The Rink: See Funland above.
The Exterior.
Gym: Free-Span Steel Trusses Cinderblocks - Walled Greenhouse - like Building with Segmental Arch with Extended Roofline.
Funland: Same as Unknown Name however, the front door area was repainted in Royal Blue. Windows are covered with Tan wrapping paper.

Thank you for understanding.
Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
