Courtesy of Google Map. Possible location of Fontenot's rink in Oakdale. Historial Aeriel pointed out this building was build in 1982 or 83 which was in line according to those old vintage maps which was in line with Fontenot Obituary.
Fontenot's Family Skate Center Hwy. 165 N., Oakdale, LA
Fontenot's Family Skate Center was at Hwy. 165 N., Oakdale, Louisiana. This was the third rink That the Late Silton Joseph Fontenot owned. He owned two other rinks including the Fontenot's Roller rink in Kinder, Louisiana in 1970 and the second rink in Westlake, LA. during the late 1970s. That rink in Kinder is still operational and is run by his son, Roger. I believe that the Westlake location has long since closed because there is no mention of it on Google search. It will be added on Dead-Rinks US list but because there are no other information on that location. It is red fonted.
The exact location is unknown. Because it has no number! I got this one with making no sense as it said in Cyber Background Check website. Having said, that address I ended up in a forested area where there are some manufactured homes are. Got to be the owner or manager's address, not the rink address. However, the rink address is on North Highway 165. It is a main road there but no confirmation because the rink closed long before Google Map started to use the map. I checked vintage Satellite image on another website that has too many "Copyright Materials" all over the map which is a huge distraction. The 1981 image I could not tell where but the 1982 image was all bleached bad (should be removed). Google in that area only went far back as 2013. The vintage satellite image from 1998 showed a spot that looks and feel like a rink that it was not shown in 1981 nor 1982. Likely this is the location where now they sell sheds and some kind of hunting towers and the name Rush. Please correct me if I am wrong. It is on same block where this Chevy dealership is (dealer is north of the possible former rink). I will take a pic here and show if this was the correct location. If not, I will change photo.
Must be that Silton Joseph Fontenot sold the rink to the new owners, Freda Marie Perron and Winston J. Perron on November 18, 1985. The rink has long since closed.
