Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Old logo. You can even noticed the wheel and truck in the logo of a skate that is familiar. The RSROA logo. Source: Everett Skate Deck.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Updated logo. I love this the best because the color is so comfortable, popular during 2010s. This design with wings is common with many skate rinks' old logos however, this is showing the front of the skate instead of sideways. Those are Mercury's wings. That specific wing reminded me of Wings, a TV sitcom way back further.. from very late 80s-90s. Also the wings is similar to an old airline logo wing. Source: Everett Skate Deck.

Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Noticed the differences? The left is newer but oddly, see the 1990s Ford Explorer driving by the sign? But the one on the right was taken in 2012. Yes, the newer one on the left had their electronic sign installed after that year. Source: (Left); Everett Skate Deck. (Right) Google.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. This is another sign they have put up but it was in the rear of the parking lot. This is quite unusual. Was it to show skaters where to park? Reason I said that is because next door is a shopping plaza and the other is a medical center. Source: (Left); Everett Skate Deck. (Right: Yelp.

I like the part where the front doors were. It looks very... class venue like. Source: Everett Skate Deck.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. I love the décor the best of all dead rinks décors. The best there was. The lights. The stars. Very unique and I highly recommend rinks to follow this footstep. It is trendy style for past ten years and still is with those indoors/outdoors cord lights. Google it and you will see how beautiful those lights. I went to a wedding in October 2021 and they had those string lights. Very beautiful reception with those lights they had. But it is much softer than this one displayed. They could have turned off the ceiling lights to leave those string lights on with stars. But should have had it softer though. More night club feel. The photographer took from where the party area was and facing arcade, eating area, and the snack bar. . Source: Everett Skate Deck.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Noticed the wall? Yes, that was popular color during 2000s--the first decade of 21st Century. Lime Green. But wait till you see they updated for 2010s... Source: Everett Skate Deck.

Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Ah, beautiful lights! The back left half is the birthday area, snack bar on the right. What I want you to see is very unique design here. Not just beautiful Hardwood Maple Rotunda floor. But I want to say this that the walls.. you noticed? Yes, its farther back away from the rink. You would have to do 2 steps! You can stand behind the wall and step down to that carpet level, then onto the rink floor. That floor was there since 1961 at the old location and was rebuilt at the 19th Avenue location. I sure hope they keep the wood for a new rink location. Stay tuned skaters. Pray! One thing thing, I dont like steps. I like smooth floors. Off and on the rink to be the same level.. Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Ohhh. The carpet ripped at that corner. I did not take that pic. Someone did. They changed the wall colors I believe a few times. More recent was Yellow walls but before that, White and Gray walls. The carpets changed too as well. In 1976, I have no idea what it was like in there. They renovated so well. And very updated. Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE, Everett, Washington recently closed in 2022 but it was opened in 1961 spanning more than 60 years. Unfortunately they did not continue their operations. It was a family owned and operated roller rink with unique lights on the ceiling that had a traditional Starburst light with another set of lights that appeared to be a 4 point star with the Starburst lights and of course, Disco Mirror Ball in the center of the rink. Original location was at 2201 California Street from 1961 to 1976.
This rink was around for 60 years as a neighbor in the Boeing Aircraft company manufacturing plant town. I am sure skaters dreamt to skate in this rink as part of being dreaming of flying a Boeing themselves. It is known that roller skating can bring dreams for children. Driving a car, flying a plane... so there you go.
But the family closed it for good on Sunday, 03 April 2022. It will become townhouses. Maybe a quadplex.
The owner was family owned since 1961. Ryan Acklus and family operated.. But his grandparents, Bobbie and Eric Englund first owned in 1961 when it was at 2201 California Street, just east of Broadway. Then during the US Bicentennial year, 1976, they relocated their skating rink to the final location 9700 19th Ave. SE. The final owner was 3rd generation, Ryan Acklus and his family, owns the business with his brother, Cory, and their mother, Teri. (Hearld Net) Looks like the changing of hands occurred in 1979 (BBB).
There was a developer who offered to buy the property during the pandemic. They weren’t sure after the state’s initial closure of non-essential industries but when restrictions lingered and business lagged, they agreed to sell the 3.72-acre property valued at $2,039,000, according to Snohomish County records. Details of the sale weren’t available. (Hearld Net)
The decision wasn’t easy for the four-generation family owned rink owners. (Hearld Net)
The Interior.
Everett Skate Deck 2201 California Street location: N/A.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE location: They had beautiful Rotunda non-painted Polyurethane-coated Maple wood floor. Their interior was superior. Beautiful floor, walls around the rink, and even more so with their birthday area and eating area. In fact, they have a section that is a bar, yes, you read that correct. It is for those over age 21 to drink alcohol beverages. They had the trendy remodel in late 2010s that features Bleached wood wall paneling. Very country style. This includes the eating area/birthday area, and the Wheel Well Lounge.
The Exterior.
Everett Skate Deck 2201 California Street location: It is a Gabled Roof with part Flat Roof Free-Span Steel Trusses Steel lined- Walled Warehouse - like Building. Presently it is a indoor football arena. The front facing California Street and the rink aligned with that street.
Everett Skate Deck 9700 19th Ave SE location: It is a Gabled Roof with part Flat Roof Free-Span Steel Trusses Stucco lined - Walled Venue - like Building which is in my opinion seeing the exterior on Google Map. Clean and functional building. Too bad that it will be demolished to become apartment complex? Whoa. I see commercial buildings on each side of the property and it is wrong to become that. My humble opinion. It is quite different than say.. Skateland in Northridge that has become a homeless shelter because many homeless people lived behind the former rink in California as well as other buildings near the rail tracks near that location. It was needed there. But this? Quite interesting.
The color seem to be Earth Tone to it. Khaki color. Good Ample parking. However, that is odd about those vertical bars rails. What was it for?
The appearance looks as if it was built in 1970s/1980s.
What I found interesting that they have 2 signs. One on left side of the street side of the building where the main entrance is on the right side. And they have a simple sign posted in the back of the parking lot away from the street! Signs are normally posted by the street, not in the rear by the forest. Why there?
