Elba Skating Rink 611 Claxton Ave N, Elba, AL
Elba Skating Rink 611 Claxton Ave N, Elba, AL was a rink for a time before it became an antique store / flea market. Unfortunately I do not have anything else to add.
I found websites just name and address but nothing. Just one real estate. That is it.
The Elba Skating Rink opened in 1997 only to close and sold on May 30, 2014. It was not running long. Apparently from my understanding skaters said on Facebook that they do not recommend the rink. Apparently maybe many things went wrong. Who knows.
Facebook said ice rink but not really. It was a roller rink. Facebook and Google and other media needs to add "Roller Skating Rink" as a category. What is wrong with those media? Mark Z and other Sillicon Valley boys needs to wake up! I recommend RSAI to invite those guys over to the RSAI conference and start learning what is Roller Skating Rinks are all about. They are NOT ice rinks, period. I rest my case. Second of all, RSAI needs to hire former Ice Rink Association staff and learn how to be equally competitive as the Ice Rinks does and we will have skating in Olympics! Not just ice, but roller! There!
In meantime, that is all I have for Elba Skating Rink.
But on the other hand, wooo! Beautiful stuff in that antique store! And guess what? On their Facebook they did take pictures around last December (of 2019) that they have 2 boxes of skateboards there! Wow! Is that awesome! Perhaps already sold! But you never know any flea markets and antique stores have roller skates! Same with thrift stores (although I never seen one at the thrift stores, I think) as well as other entertainment such as bowling balls, and other 20th Century entertainment for the 21st Century and beyond! I recommend you check this antique store. Some I have seen was okay but this one seems to be a better one. Check them out when you are in area!
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse- like Building with Gable roof. It was White walls with Sky Blue lettering and canopy. It even had pairs of skates facing the name. Funny thing that after they closed and went out of business, the antique store owner ordered the same color lettering for this store. And same size too. Must be he liked the fonts so that he ordered the same way.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: N/A. Floor Layout: N/A.
Building Size: 11,264 SF. Built: 1997. Demolished: Still standing. Now antique store.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse- like Building.
Roof: Gable.
Acres: N/A.
Operated: 1997 to May 30, 2014.
Reason for Closure: N/A.
Wanted: Information regarding photos of both interior and exterior, exact dates of open and closed. Why closed? What are size of the rink and floor materials?
Anyone has pictures and/or information please let me know at [email protected]. Thank you.
