El Torian Skating Palace 755 South 11th Street, Philadelphia, PA
This roller rink, El Torian Skating Palace, was located at 755 South 11th Street right by the corner with Catherine Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. What I found in history is this-- It was located in a large building which was something else before it became the El Torian Skating Palace. It sounded like since the size of the building. It is now a Bella Vista Beer Distributor.
The building was owned by John J. Tyler before It was being converted into the El Torian, one of the largest roller rinks in the city. It boasted “the sweetest music you’ve ever skated to” and “cushioned floors.” The El Torian was an excellent rink for talented skaters and routinely sent its most gifted patrons to the annual Daily News-sponsored roller skating championships. This was according to Hidden City Philadelphia website.
Interesting to discover the building has the 2 letters near the roofline. It shows "V P". Was it a business initial name or a person name? We do not know. Anybody?
One thing though, in the 1895 edition of Bromley’s Atlas of the City of Philadelphia, this building is shown as the 11th Street Market.
The Interior.
This facility once housed a rink has 26,404 Square Feet which is pretty large building for a rink. Likely it had Maple or similar wooden floor.
The Exterior.
This beautiful building still standing has two story building with beautiful glass-block upon the building front wall. With the glass-blocks, upon this building brings more of Classic Moderne look. That should pinpoint to around 1930s, 1940s. Then upon my research, it was built in the year 1930.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
