Both courtesy of USGS. 1959 and 2010. Yes, skaters, there was McD BEFORE demolished as you can see in the photo at right. Why need to tear down to make room? There was plenty of room! And if McD needed more parking space, could have asked the rink to share but actually, there were ROOM in the rear! Look at it! This one really upsets me and I am sure many skaters too. Time to rebuilt and paid for by that restaurant and the landowner this time. And hand back ownership to the previous owner of the rink.

This was a rink that mysteriously had two names at a location that is now a McDonalds on 2100 West Central Avenue in El Dorado, Kansas. Likely first called, El Dorado Skate Center then Skate City, likely a franchise of Skate City Corporation.
The information I got from Local Gyms & Fitness is usually based off from Facebook defunct (sometimes active) profiles. There is no Facebook profiles currently for the rink.
The rink went through several ownerships till the last one, Kirbie Shearburn.
UPDATE! -- 23 February 2022.
I received an email from the very same owner, Kirbie in a very nice email. Really described what happened. Kirbie, sorry you had to go through all this trouble. Many rink operators have. One in Florida went through a hurricane too and ruined the floor as I can see their photos that I received. Looks more like a skate park. Sorry to hear. I hope you are ok now with other things you can do. You sure do have a big heart for kids and adults too to skate, not for the money.
Here is what Kirbie has to say --
Hello. My name is Kirbie Shearburn and I was the last owner of Skate City. I originally purchased the building in late 2004 to keep it open after the previous owner was in financial trouble.
We had an original wood floor until the rain from hurricane Katrina made it to Kansas and caused flooding. The water was waist deep at the front door. It was very sad and just too expensive to replace. After that we took the floor out and laid epoxy over the concrete and that is how it remained.
I did have the opportunity to buy the building but it was just took expensive and needed too many repairs to the roof and the cost of upgrading to central heat and air was just too much. We would have priced ourselves way above what our little community could support. I never thought a 22 I would own my first business, we never did it for the money we did it for the kids trying to provide them a safe place to have fun. We enjoyed the 10 years we had it.

Kirbie, that got to be hard. Sorry to hear you went through this. Yes, costs can out balance the sheets cross the board. It would be hard to earn money to operate with the expenses just on repairs.
I wish nothing but the best you did and will.
Unfortunately, they closed on May 29, 2015 for good and the building was demolished and now it is a McD's with the eyebrow on roof top that was around for that time (Now McDs starting to go Greying of America--no arches nor eyebrows. Just standard Post Modernism or now known as Starbuck Architecture-ism).
I see the maps showing that McD's would have had plenty of room if the rink building was still there. Oh well.
Although the skating rink was around for 65 years. It began in 1950.

Kirby emailed me more information--
It’s been a while but if I remember correctly we were 120 ft x 50. Original floor was a maple floating floor and it was long boards if I remember correctly.
In reading you page the Starlite Skating Rink in Newton Kansas [had] our spider lights (Starburst lights). They bought most of our equipment when we closed.
The Interior.
Pre-Hurricane:
It was Hardwood Floor. Long board Maple. But because of the hurricane flooding. the wood floor was taken out and just stick with concrete.
It had Americana Navy Blue color wall in background with a mural of a Las Vegas style sign saying "Welcome to Fabulous SKATE CITY." There was a Orange-ish Red baseboard. I do not see any other photos of the rink on the net unfortunately.
Post-Hurricane:
Concrete with Epoxy because if in case of another hurricane I am sure but wood is very expensive.

The Exterior.
Free-Span Steel Truss Cinderblocks-built storefront-like Building with Segmental Arch with Gable upfront with fake roof façade on front wall. The front had two stories. I believe that was an apartment or an office upstairs.
