Google Map. Likely ORIGINAL CHOICE of location of the former rink. But which part of the huge 180,000 SF building? Scratch that because Operator Del-Nita Renee Outlaw found a new location. This building is the Pirelli building.
Courtesy of Clark Design Group. The rendering looked very much like a REAL place or REAL photo but it is not. it is all CGI design. I love that design! Very clean, crisp. but the skate floor looks narrower. I am not sure if I like the colors and arrangement of colors in middle of the floor. I love the clean ceiling but it looks very office like, doesn't it? One thing about the rendering, Their designers should have made it more shining on the floor. It looks too dull. Is the rail top have Granite? That is way too much money to have granite! I hope that was a Formica laminated countertop in that rendering.
E-Skate Family Fun Center "801 Elkton Blvd", Elkton, MD
E-Skate Family Fun Center was a short lived roller rink in 801 Elkton Blvd, Elkton, MD. It was housed in a large former factory building that housed other tenants as well. Unfortunately for the Operator Del-Nita Renee Outlaw who had a dream and woke up one day that she owns a roller rink in a former Walmart. That Walmart had other plans for that building so she found this at the former factory as said in Cecil Whig. So, then she registered it in October 13, 2010. 9 months after she announced in the newspaper. It must have been taking her a while to set up business.
E-Skate stands for Easy Skate which I believe.
This was in 2011. I saw in Google Map for 2016, it says for lease. It is gone already. Short lived. What went wrong?
Del-Nita wanted to bring community together in town and have something safe for children.
Loop Net has 2 different profiles and I am not sure which is which but I believe it was the middle. My guess but not sure.
Del-Nita had a fund raising for the rink. Likely this was a non-profit.
The fund raising was to raise 100,000 USD to secure a 1.3 Million Dollars from the bank for a new built. They did have a donation for the land but I heard nothing more in the news. Did they fail to secure or failing to get enough fund raising money? If so, this should be under "Dead-Proposal" What you think?
Any updates with the fund raising or what? Website is down.
Oh well.
The Interior.
Two rinks actually. Main floor at 9,000 Square Feet and a smaller rink for younger ones not wanting to venture to the larger rink where more faster skaters are (I believe rinks need to do this way because of skate mates can trip a faster skater which can be the rink's fault for objects in the way on the floor. Potential for lawsuits.
Also had games and snack bar. This is why the rink was about half of its size of the entire facility of 17,500 Square Feet. Floor material is unknown.
The rendering seen above showed how sleek the design is. Clearly might be Concrete floor because of the dull shining Natural Concrete Grey look around the rink. It has very colorful lines and turns in center of rink. It does show how narrow it look. And the colors I am not crazy about. Could have better compliment colors here and there. The rest were very clear and bright. All whites. Very office like for the rest of the facility in that design. And yes, that is granite-like counter top for the half-wall or rails. This time I looked, it was RollerCourt! The tongue and groove tile flooring.
The Exterior.
It was a former factory building where the rink was and in middle section of the three sections. You can tell by the roof as photo shown above. It is the dark roof section. Well, it was Sand color walls with many windows. It was originally where the offices of this factory I do not know what it was. The frontage though looked very 1930s but does not look that old. It was built in 1960 according to Redfin. THAT building was the original choice but they were going to have a new built.
New built I do not know where or what happened or what? Anyone?
