Courtesy of ebay. Someone was selling a slightly torn skate box sticker.
Bottom two photos courtesy of Google Map, never mind the bridge bend and the pin. The pin once again is in error. It is cross the street in the largest building in the bottom photo. Several businesses housed through the years there.
E & N Rollerdrome, 451 Putney Rd., Brattleboro, VT (Sometimes spells as E-N Rollerdrome)
There is not a whole lot of information at all on this Rollerdrome in Brattleboro, Vermont. Unfortunately. However, it was mentioned in an obituary and a YouTube video about a bad wind storm knocked down trees hitting electricity wires right by the Rollerdrome. The other day I found the video but I was going to make a profile here today, I could not find it.
I do not have opening and closing dates. However, to give a ballpark. Because of the building had Raised Quonset Roof--the Arched roof and the way the walls appeared. It appeared to be 1940s. And the name of this rink I found was in Videoparadise list of 1990s where I get lists of rinks from and Google Group list that was dated in April 1996.
There are no photos of the rink itself, unfortunately. Pretty quiet on this.
Apparently the rink may have closed in 1990s based on those two directories. I do not list directories on sources because I prefer to focus on sources available about those rinks elsewhere on the net.
So, my educated guess it was from 1940s to 1990s. Even the YouTube person who was filming about the wind storm damaging his hometown mentioned the rink's name and was dated in 2017. The rink closed long before that but we all always say the previous business name or the name of the place, not the business especially for older people.
There was a Page's Dairy Bar located inside Rollerdrome that ran before they relocated in 1957 to Canal Street and closed in 1966. Sounds like a separate business that owned the snack bar as a vendor in the skating rink. This is quite extremely rare to have an outside food vendor to operate a business inside a roller rink. Today, video game operators operate their video games and pingball games inside roller rinks, not the rink operators.
What was more unique about this rink that it was located by the marina. It appeared to be a beautiful spot for a rink. Really gets into recreation and entertainment. Some rinks do that and some are still operational such as Cass Park in Ithaca, Brooklyn Bridge Pier 2 Roller Rink in New York City. Both are outdoors and again, both are by the water. One is near the marina (Ithaca) which were I skated once in 1983.
