YAHOO Answers. This is a capture before Yahoo Answers is shut down on May 4, 2021. Good thing I got this one! I liked this what Yahoo answers forum but apparently forums are a thing of the past. Really. When I research for rinks, they are quite dated. An old skating forum is the same way, a lot of early 2010s too. Forums are a thing of the past now that people prefer to chat on the phone or something else than forums because forums usually take time to reply by anyone. Trust me, I know. I put a statement about something on a website (not for skating, for something else) and no one replied! I put it there in March 2021.
There are no photos of the rink unfortunately. Anyone?

Disco Wheels Roller Rink was a rink located at 4150 West 55th Street, Chicago, Illinois. It was established in 1976 in a former Jewel grocery store (Yahoo Answers). Later, it became Dancin' Wheels Roller Rink.
John L. Waner (R) who was a mayoral candidate back in the 60's owned the rink. None of the articles said he owned a rink but those articles and Wikipedia are so focused on his political career and government careers. He ran against 4 term Mayor incumbent Richard Daley (D).
Someone said on Forgotten Chicago Forum (edited for Dead-Rinks) that Disco Wheels was one of the best places to skate in the 80's (later Dancing Wheels) near Midway Airport in Chicago. The polyurethane floor was one of a kind, and the sound system was WAY better beyond other rinks in the area. People came from all over Chicago to skate there and it was packed every night, with lines out of the door. They had the most contemporary hand painted mural on the wall and a dance floor with pulsating lights beating to the music!
Many first kisses took place there and love never seemed more exciting, skating hand and hand to the sweet sounds of the 80's. It was a GREAT place to spend your childhood and definitely a forgotten safe haven for teens and tweens. Fleetwood and Oak Lawn keep trying......NOTHING and I mean NOTHING holds a candle to the old DISCO WHEELS...GOD REST ITS SOUL!
