All of Google Map. As Queen Liv's Skate-O-Rama.
Disco-Skate Center, 813 Webster, Chilicothe, MO (First)
My Skating Rink, 813 Webster, Chilicothe, MO (Second)
Queen Liv's Skate-O-Rama, 813 Webster, Chillicothe, MO (Current)
There were more than just one rink's name. There were three! Disco-Skate Center which I believed was first followed by Queen Liv's Skate-O-Rama followed by My Skating Rink which was final rink.
There are a lot of internet connecting with any of the three even just "Skate-O-Rama" and maybe more. Anyway, Maybe the name Skate-O-Rama was first because it was common to have the "Rama" connected to the name of the recreation facility in 1940s to 1960s. There are a few O-Rama rinks throughout the United States at the time for both roller rinks and bowling and I am sure ice rinks as well. Even automobile dealers, or whatever retail or business of its day used to be called. It has a connection to the Space Age and Space Race of its day along with Googie Architecture and Mid-Century Modernism.
Disco-Skate Center sounded more like 1980s because of the slow dying of Disco were still around in early 1980s as the word, "Center" was added at the time. In 1984, I named my own entertainment center that I designed was labeled with those two words, "Entertainment Center" with a name before that. It would have been world's largest entertainment center. Many businesses in 1980s on have word, "Center" labeled to their names.
My Skating Rink was final name that is still on the building according to Google Map.
BUZZZZ! I was wrong. Disco-Skate Center was first clearly then My Skating Rink according Google Map street level dated in September 2013! It is Queen Liv's Skate-O-Rama! That is the name of the rink now according to the internet. O-Rama is back! Yay! Haha.
There, I fixed it! Hahaha.
Ok, we are talking about previous rinks then.
It was rather a small rink. A gable roofed cinder block built building. It was very basic design. Someone by the name of Robbie Virus (as I quote him) said on Flicker about this rink "that it was a garage at one time for a parking garage for the Leeper Hotel, which once stood at the corner of Washington and Webster streets. Steve Wedlock was employed by Bill Mast, who opened the skating rink in the early 1980s, and helped transform the facility from a parking garage to a skating rink. Floyd Hutcherson owned the business from 1990 until he passed away in 2016. Floyd's family now runs the business."
So, likely Disco-Skate rink was operated by Bill Mast from early 1980s till 1990 then Floyd Hutcherson who owned My Skating Rink from 1990 till 2016 and now Floyd's family is running the rink as Queen Liv's Skate-O-Rama.
There you have it all clear.
The building is simple with some natural wood shingles in the gable wall up front. The sign has a soda brand above the name of the rink. It was changed a couple of times with that clearly as you can see in photos. The rest of the building was Gable roofed.
Now, the interior currently has two-tone blue colors. Light Blue and Blue stripe run horizontally. It has windows and great to be open for cool nights for hot skaters out in Mid-West summer nights. Closed during winter of course.
