Once upon a time, for real, they had Deleta Ball Room which was in Montpelier, Idaho which was built and opened in around 1930s according to the couple who owns the rink. However, just around the corner was World War II and the supplies shortage/rations, they relocated the building from Montpelier to the current location on 520 Yellowstone Avenue in Pocatello, Idaho.
RoadArch said 1941. I would say 1930s because the couple says so in today's newspaper, Idaho State Journal.
The name of the dance hall and later the rink was named after the founders' names, Dell and Leta Holland, the grandparents of current owner/operator Jackie Foulger, the wife of Art Foulger who is also owner and operator.
Because of the War in 1940s, and the construction material shortage, the couple found that Pocatello had more activities and more active than Montpelier did, so they had to dismantled the original building in Montpelier and relocated to the current location in Pocatello. They labeled every single material so they could reconstruct in exact process of construction. Not a copy but original rebuilt. Not a reboot, rebuilt, period.
The place had dancing during the weekend and skating during the week.
The original run as a skating rink was until the early 1950s. Then they closed the skating rink and they had housed a several businesses including a bar, a grocery store and an army surplus store. But around 1972, the place became a skating rink once again.
Many people remembered the bar after the original rink closed. It was the Crystal Ship.
The Interior.
I do not know the original appearance was like but they had several renovations as time went by. The original 1930s to 1950s appearance is unknown. Then they had several businesses there which changed completely the interior look. But in 1972, they returned as a skating rink. I still do not know what it was like but more recent carination it was unique.
Why? They had the 1990s style of painting that you paint with a sponge. Called Sponge Painting. It gave that metallic look similar to a fishing boat with that metallic look. Please click the link to see what it is like. Rinks have not yet done this type of painting.. yet.
The graphic flow I can see as it appeared to be three-ribbons flow on one wall. It also has the name Deleta in their own style of writing. I like the creativity. The main background is Dark Purple. The ribbons, the name and the sponge paints are all black light paints.
On another wall, it has very realistic views of skaters on the white wall.
The Exterior.
The appearance as I can see for present day is quite Art Deco Moderate look. That is because that was the building original appearance from 1930s. The colors back then are unknown but currently, they are showing true 1930s/40s colors with what it appeared to be Lettuce Green (or SW Vogue Green) stripes with Light Stone Gray for background. They had popular Stone veneer from late 1990s/2000s look.
This sign they have with this design was likely from 1970s look because of the female skater wearing bell-bottom pants, 2 tones T-shirt and a The Flick-Up Bob hairdo. This was very 1960s look for 1972 reopening.
