Dance Box Roller Rink 301 S. Broad St, Philadelphia, PA
Dance Box Roller Rink was once located at Broad and Spruce Streets, at 301 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a multi-story building. It was located on second floor. You will noticed big glamourous windows making this more of a dance hall like. Perhaps it was actually a dance hall. The building size was three stories and would be roughly equal the size from average to small sized department store anywhere.
The photo described on Hidden City Phila website stated that the photo was from 1929. Apparently they have been around from the turn of the Century to maybe 1930s when they went out of business. I attempted to find records. It is difficult.
The rink closed sometimes in early 20th Century likely because of rinks turning toward to suburban rinks in 1950s anywhere, everywhere. It was one of the oldest still standing but in 2017, it was demolished and became an open space for downtown Philadelphia. It was in the area where art colleges are located. The building in fact had an art store called Utrecht Art Supplies on ground floor. But they closed just before the building demolished. Was the store the owner of the building or the tenant? I do not know. Now the condos is called, Arthaus Condominiums.
The Interior.
it was located on second floor. Likely the floor was Maple wood or similar hardness. They may have had it as a dance center hence the name. Second floor appeared to be the tallest space of three floors.
The Exterior.
It was a classic three story Brick building with Flat roof. They had beautiful windows with arched windows. Making it look so grand especially interior where the rink floor was. I know of another rink had such windows like this. I cannot recall which rink because I did that profile in 2019. I believe it was Florida or in New York State but I am not sure. They may even had exposed Bricks interior as well.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
