Dallas Skating Academy Dallas, TX
Dallas Skating Academy was one of the first roller skating rinks in Dallas, Texas and it was a school for skating. It reminded me that is how every new industry began, they would have an academy or school for training then everyone knew how without the need of having a school... well, almost for all industry.
It was opened on December 23, 1885. That was just merely 2 days before Christmas. Must be they wanted to be opened in time for the holidays. Like movies do releases within days of Christmas or after Memorial Day in theaters. Similar concept. They lasted some few years but no other information so far.
It was a school for skating lessons from beginners to advanced. Skating was just new and this is one of where it all began. Many schools back then taught skaters which eventually those students became professional skaters which then taught next generations, on and on. Those you learned today were from those schools like this one back then! Gotta thank them!
The Interior.
Unknown but I assume they had Maple wood floor because of metal wheels on skates. It was a training school because roller skating was new.
