Both courtesy of Google Map. Top was May 2011 and bottom was March 2019. They did sell the building in 2016 which made that discount store out of business. Darn I miss chances to buy clothes and stuff at 90 percent off! And missed chance to skate! Waaaa!

Yes, Crystal Palace Skating Center had 4 rinks. This was one of the two that were closed and kept the Rancho location and Boulder location still operational. Also for a time, Playland Skate Center. Unfortunately I could not get information because both DDG and G search gave me the Crystal Palace of those two still operational. Wrong! And as for Playland, I kept getting one from Austin, Texas. Wrong! Only I got was Loop Net and Manta. Have to work around with those two. I assure you I typed correctly. Ok, I copied and pasted WITH the address and that was the results I got. That duck and that letter G needs open their eyes and see the addresses! Haha. They sure do have same problems as the USPS have. Yes, the USPS here in Liverpool gets Liverpool, UK mail! Why? Mail carriers failed to read the fine print on the envelopes! My business cards for Dead-Rinks went up to Fulton, NY. Yes, That rink up there! Wake up people! Wow. Maybe addresses should be this way: Country, State/Providence, city, street, number on street, then your name in that order.
Playland Skate Center was first before Crystal Palace. This is why you noticed it is not alphabetically order. It is the order of timeline.
Manta said it was established in 1980 for Playland Skate Center. UPDATE- I got verification from a skater who said Manta is right about the year for Playland Skate Center which was of course, 1980. The original owner for Playland Skate Center was the Late Robert Howell. He bewilled the rink to his daughter, Angela. Then co-owners for Playland, Angela and Buddy ended up in a divorce and this caused Playland Skate Center in a limbo. So, this is why it was sold to Crystal Palace (which also had rinks in Vegas) and Crystal Palace opened in 1990 but it was short lived when they closed in 1994.
Then after the closure, a Marine dealership bought it and turned into a dealer but that too was short lived and then turned into a mattress discount store and then another discount store selling clothes. 6 different ownerships and business in that building. What a life for that building!
And photos too. Every information I need for here (please scroll down and you will see what I need.)
Anyway, the address I originally put down as it was on Lake Mead Drive East but I found a search saying it was East Lake Mead Parkway. so I changed a bit and I found a more logical sense where the rink was thanks to Google Map showing a building a lot like a roller rink. It is currently as Lakes Discount Center and they changed the name a bit too. Lakes Outlet. They were established in 2009. So that places the rink before that date.
There is a purchase date history on Realty Trac: May 25, 2016. Did the discount store go out of business? Looked that way in the Google Map I am seeing dated March 2019. No one was there and there is a fence and gate around the whole parking lot. Empty. Next to it is a gas station with still pretty expensive price of nearly 3 USD per gallon that year. I am sure with Biden now, it is 4.50 a gallon. Too much.
Of course, divorce can be nasty when you both owns a rink and may have to sell the rink to get halves of the money, not want to share ownership as a divorced partner-in-business. So, Buddy and Angela sold it. With Crystal Palace, they close quickly because clearly in my opinion, it was not the same without the couple and from what I read in the email, sounds like Crystal Palace totally renovated inside that truly alienated skaters. For example, maybe Crystal Palace removed Marilyn Monroe Neon thing that was on the wall. It would not be the same. It was like having a true Mom-and-Pop store and it would be sold into a chain and no one likes that chain. Crystal Palace was a chain in Nevada so it made sense why. That is a huge risk for a chain to do that. No one likes that it changes to all cookie cutter appearance like you see all the time with fast food or donut shops or coffee shop chains. No. I do not like it either.
The Interior.
This is what this skater said in his email today (01 April 2021) told me... (edited for grammar).
Playland had a huge marble floor with bench seating along both sides of the rink. 6 emergency exit doors on each side of the rink a snack bar with tables, arcade games, (and) the DJ area that played music the skate counter.. the skate rink had lights that looked like spider legs [I call those Starburst Lights] that flashed orange, red, blue, and, green. Disco balls one at each end. Speaker boxes and neon picture of Marilyn Monroe and it flashed giving the illusion of her dress blowing up. Everything remained the same as Playland sadly came to an end during Crystal Palace hay day it wasn't the same we wanted (with) Playland.
MARBLE FLOOR! WOW! That is a first I ever heard of having a Marble floor. Granite is the hardest and Marble is just 2nd hardest. Actually Diamond is hardest of all. Making Granite 2nd hardest followed by Marble. Why not put diamond on the floor! Cant crack! That is going to be quite expensive! Unless you use Russian manmade diamond or get it from Mexico those giant diamonds underground seen in caves that I saw in a National Geographic magazine! But I think you would injure greatly on those stones.
The Exterior.
It was a simple building with warehouse like, Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gable.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: MARBLE! Floor Layout: Standard with Marble stone plates and grout to close gaps.
Building Size: 25,000 SF. Built: 1981. Demolished: Still standing.

Boating store: only 1995.

Clothing store 1: 1996 to N/A.

Reason for Closure:
Playland Skate Center: Bitter divorce forced sale to split equal assets to settle the divorce.
Crystal Palace Skating Center: No revenue. Wasn't going well it just wasn't the same.
Wanted: Information regarding exact dates of open/closed, why closed, size of rink, rink materials. Also photos. Anyone knows or have photos, please let me know by emailing at [email protected]. Thank you.
