Courtesy of Loop Net. Wow, did you all see that billboard? 4.99 steak! Yes, some restaurants have dirt cheap buffets and meals. That is because it is Las Vegas. The gambling capital of the world. They make money out of your foolish spending on casinos. Anyway, that is what the CP looked like before Boxing great Floyd Mayweather purchased it January 20, 2021. Hey, shh, what's stay in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Courtesy of KTNV. (Both of them!) Beautiful evening photos. Very Vegas style. Only true to Vegas is the sign. The rest of the building were in not in Vegas Strip style though.

Crystal Palace Skating Center began in 1977 and ran for many years till January 20, 2021 when a Boxing Great Floyd Mayweather purchased the rink located at 4680 Boulder Highway, Las Vegas, Nevada. Hopefully this new venture Floyd will increase the rink usages and repairs reputation because this very rink had lawsuits and discrimination against a lady who refused to remove her hat just for taking her daughter to a birthday party. You see, the mother had cancer and she was only bringing her daughter to the birthday party so that the daughter would know where they are. But the security people and staff told her no unless she can remove her hat. The mother felt uncalled for. So, she posted on social media regarding this. I saw that on Yelp. I am sure she posted on Facebook as well.
That event occurred in late February 2019. The Crystal Palace Skating Center said she can come in with hat on if she had medical note from the doctor. Lovely. If the lady said they did not tell her, then they were wrong and she should sue them.
Is that maybe why the Crystal Palace Skating Center decided to retire? It is possible for that reason. The lawsuits and the discrimination can really harm a business. Federal regulations forbid discrimination for ADA. For a hat or even a wig, discrimination should not be done. Just state by word of mouth if you do not have a medical note. Hardly anyone has that except they do request for a handicapped parking access only. But seemly we all will need that pass but that is sounding like what Nazi labeled people with symbols on their clothing during 1933 to 1945.
I am strongly against Labelism. That is similar to what people call them "Racism" but it is Labelism. Because the word Racism is.. for skin of color although that word was not found before Darwin invented that word for his so called evolution misconceptionism. (Yes, I am speaking as Conservative and will not apologize). I am stating the fact of truth.
Now back this, rinks, please be careful with your rules. This is not 1950s anymore. You might have to give some leeway. Unless you put your name of the rink with the word Christian then people will know what they wear.. dress up in suits and dresses like going to churches. Labelism is a no-no. OK? So, hopefully Floyd Mayweather will allow this lady in this time around because he is known to care about people. If I would him, I would invite the lady in again.
Crystal Palace was owned by Tim Poole. Likely since 1986. That is a long time. 35 years. He sold it to Boxing Great and big time Skater Floyd Mayweather.
The Interior.
The interior as I can see in photo I would give it an 8. Because the rink side it shows beautiful Navy Blue, Blue, and White Ceiling Panel that makes the area rink side sleek. Very clean lines of that part. The part where snack bar, eating area, proshop, skate rental, games.. Looks more like a whole different era or theme. It is a little off really. It gave that 1970s feel on that side because of the wall paneling that were popular back in 1950s to 1970s. Carpet is new of course. The tables.. I love the colors. Really bold but true solid foundation colors. Red, Blue, etc. But the panels.. not matching to the rest of the place.
Floyd, would you like me to design your rink interior now that you bought it? I know. 4 Million USD you spend to buy a rink. That is bit pricy I have to say. But if you remodel now, more people might come but please open up your rink on weekends.
Anyway, the rest where the rink section inside, right on the nose colors you should not touch.. for now.
Make the snack bar- rentals- eat area- and games to have matching style. Beautiful though, really.
The Exterior.
It looks very much of a 1970s sort of a Skate Country of AZ design which was and still popular but the difference with this rink that there is no entrance similar to those other Skate Country or similar. I am referring to because the extension is not there. Just the canopy and open space without walls. Just one wall likely to block cold breeze.
It has unique murals on the walls including mens skates on the wall, with bold z-shaped lines. There is the fake extension above to fool customers thinking it is a large rink building by the means of height. It is truly a Gable Roof Free-Span Steel Truss Cinderblocks-Walled Warehouse - like Building.
