All photos courtesy with permission from Ray Simmons/crescent-park-ri.com. First photo shows where the original rink was which was right in the Alhambra Dance Hall. Notice the Bamboo Slide was erected in the way of the frontage of that beautiful building. The main entrance had arches to reflex Art Deco Architecture.
The second photo showed the new relocated rink to separate from the dance hall. Must be the dances were popular or the roller skating was popular so they had to separate them. It did appear smaller in the photo. Notice the soda brand advertised above. That was common at rinks in the 20th Century to advertise.
The interior I believe it is the relocated rink. It did look as large compared to the exterior. Must be my eyes. Haha. The entire floor was wood. No carpet, no rails but has base boards to separate from non-rink side. I never seen modern rinks look like that. Maybe changed now for the sake of safety, I am not sure. But looks great rink to skate in even with the smaller building. I am sure with Alhambra Hall, it would have been much bigger rink for sure. I have no photo for that according to the website, crescent Park. (please click link)
Final (bottom) photo showed for the last time the rink existed. This was taken in 1980. They closed the park in 1979. It appeared to be the building on the left. Management had it renovated sometimes between 1950s and 1970s because it looked more modern and updated with paint.

Crescent Roller RInk, Crescent Park Amusement Park, 700 Bullocks Points Ave, Riverside, RI
This rink was part of an amusement park. Now, about the park, it had a very rich history to it. Originally the amusement park opened in 1886 with a carousel. Then eventually it was added. It would be huge information to be added but this website is all about roller rinks. To read about the amusement park, there are quite a bit of websites you can read from: Wikipedia, Crescent Park, Way Marking, FRRP, the Library at Providence, RI, and more if you use search engine. Pretty much they all say the same thing anyway because it appeared to be copied and pasted.
Crescent Roller Rink was a rink part of the park. There is no specific date of built and closure though. We can give that a ball park. It appears to be opened in 1920 (according to Way Marking) and it was relocated to a smaller building along the way in 1950 and closed up in the 1970s. Likely by 1979 because of a photo evidence I researched using Crescent Park website and it showed the building where the rink was along with other buildings at the former amusement park that was fenced up after the bank seized because of bankruptcy in 1977. It had several hands changed by the means of selling the park to next owner and then on and on.
So, this is my guess-mate that it would be from 1920 to 1979. Not sure. I need to find that information.
Originally the rink was in the Alhambra Ballroom building which was a huge building that housed the wooden floor. Likely Maple. But in 1950s. They relocated the rink to the smaller building. I am waiting for permission from a Mr. Ray Simmons for letting me post pictures of the two buildings so you can see the differences.
Originally Alhambra Ballroom was Crescent Park Dance Hall. The name was changed. The front later was blocked by this round tower called Bamboo Slide which was a spiral slide (Not a water slide).
Many skating rinks of its day back then were at dance halls because of Maple or hard wood floors they used. Then rinks split off from dance halls like with the one at Crescent Park Amusement Park and it became independent leaving the Alhambra Hall to be just dance center. Sadly it burned down.
Both featured wood floors. Most likely Maple. Both have Gable roofs.
More information will be added as I find out more.
Today the park is half full of housing only keeping the carousel operational and cross the street from the carousel is a park with a stone memorial that it was an amusement park. Look it up on Google Map and take yourself a look around on the map at 700 Bullock Points Ave, Riverside, RI. Beautiful area. Carousel was restored and the building looks great shape. If you are traveling around in that area, please do stop by there! It is fun to ride on a carousel and have a nice walk in the park cross the street. A real nano-amusement park today. haha.
If you are one of those amusement park fans, please check out Crescent Park website! Groves of photos. Hundreds of them. And videos too. Awesome site you should check it out!
