Courtesy of Four Square. Older version of the rink before the current look. Ah, this look more relaxing and I love that mural. Almost the same as I did for a client when I painted a wavy dock that has a Sea Gull sitting on a post.
Both photos courtesy of Loop Net. Very colorful exterior! I love it! One of the best creative design for a skating rink I ever seen. Should be award winning architectural design and architectural décor design. What is that thingy up there on the back of the building. Looks like a fence or is that a very long antenna or something. Weird! The side makes it look like a LEGO look. Were they attempting a LEGO look? Yes, LEGO is very popular these days being more than a toy. They made movies, theme parks, huge themed stores, etc.
Also excellent mixture of material. This makes it a new kind of architecture that has been around for a while. Called Mixture Architecture. Fast food chains are doing that. Seem them?

Both photos courtesy of a Skateland Fan on Yelp. Arrived to see empty rink on Halloween night. The schedule said to be there but when he arrived, found no one was there and he saw the print out covering some of the sign that was advertising for Halloween night at this very rink. Something went very wrong. Needs to be careful because if you advertise that you are going to be open that night, you have to be open because its the law. If you are going to chancel or change of location/venue, you have to state that on social media and your website. Never do it at last minute. I am sure Skateland lost a potential customer.
Both courtesy of Skateland / USA Skateland Chandler. Both night and day view of the sign. Wow, when I first saw the night one, I thought it was black but it was really Red at night! Light balance for camera at night really give a different effect. Very modern, very unique, and very different than the purpose of the rink itself which is more fun and playful. The sign is very Conservative and Minimalist.
Above two photos courtesy of Skateland. This was Skateland in 2009. Beachy murals and all. Two photos below courtesy of Skateland. Again, closer to see the murals that were all beachy. Excellent concept for everyone living in the desert. Right? Could have kept this! Likely this was done in 2009 because on USA Skateland Chandler's Facebook photo album, it stated 2009 and 2011. Likely they had it painted in 2009. They painted over it with loud art work in 2018ish.
Bottom 5 courtesy of USA Skateland. All updated mural to work as black light murals. The 2nd from bottom showed a DJ spinning a turntable. I do not like that look. It has that glow eyes.. I feel evil right there. Needs to be painted over. No offense. But my opinion. Oh hum, I do not have 3 Million Dollars to make a purchase of this rink and do over. those walls. Make it more happier, more family friendly.
The yellow posts were carpeted to hide that problem of theirs with people touching it and it was turning black. Second of all, with carpet, it softened up the impact for skaters.
They over 85 photos in Facebook and a few more in the USA Skateland Chandler website and Yelp. One of rinks' largest collection of photos.

The location at 1101 West Ray Road in Chandler, Arizona was the home to Skate World, Chandler Sports Spectrum and Spectrum followed by Skateland which eventually became USA Skateland (United Skates of America Skateland).
Quite a bit of names here! Likely Skate World was the first and then Chandler Sports Spectrum the nickname with it was Spectrum. Later, it became Skateland which eventually became a franchise of United Skates of America. I believe Skateland for this location was a franchise of another Skateland because of the logo. That 1950s curvature font I saw in an other Skateland I worked on in other states. Somewhere in Midwest I believe. If that was the case, was it a franchise / chain? I believe it was because many rink companies do own their franchises cross the country such as United Skates of America, American on Wheels, Skate City, Skate Country (2 separate groups! Of Arizona and of Iowa), and more.
It was built in 1985 so I assume that the rink first opened that year. No wonder all 5 names! Perhaps likely 3 to 4 ownership up to this year before it was up for sale. They are asking for... be ready! 2,850,000 USD. This is the most expensive roller rink price I ever seen. 2.9 Million Dollars which is just creeping up to 3 Million which no other rinks I know of that price. They put so much work into the rink with those unique design which increased the value.
DISCLAIMER -- This two paragraphs are solely my opinion regarding the wrist braces or wrist guards.
There is one rule I never heard of at any alive rinks and dead rinks is the requirement to wear wrist braces or pads. It is most unusual and I understand physical safety but usually it is not necessary at rinks. Did the insurance company force the rink to require skaters to wear them? I thought signing our waivers avoided that problem because we all have our own insurance. Wearing it is can be good and safety but it is up to the customers, not owner. Why? This is very unusual and usually not for rinks indoors. At this rink, they required you to wear it.
Is this one of few reasons why they are selling the rink this year? COVID shutdowns was one of factors for many businesses to go out of businesses but was this part of it? I read some commenters in Yelp saying they do not like wearing it and it was shared with others before that with those rented braces. Usually you wear those safety stuff FOR OUTDOORS SKATING.
The Interior.
It is a 23,422 Square Feet building with really unique design inside. Colorful murals, benches, tables, everything very busy with design. Murals are pretty good and a little bit of graffiti which I do not like but this one is a bit more blend between a graffiti and art. It looks more professional that those you seen on streets or on trains or on buildings that those illegal graffiti have. There is one really bothers me with that one mural of a DJ that is all black with just eyes. That looks evil to me. What I like only is the perspective in that mural that showed two turntables and the whole thing really showed 3D. The artist who did this really worked hard to make it 3D in everything so I give him a great effort on that. The name of the rink, the skate blasting through the wall, and the ghostly DJ with turntables is also appeared to blast through the wall. It is awesome design that they have. Maybe if they toned down a tiny bit because it looked so busy. The stars and bursts on top and bottom to frame the murals are a bit too much. It makes the walls look too busy. If the new owner keeps this rink, he needs to do is paint over the stars and bursts frame and keep some murals. That might help lessen the clutter it looks. The place looked bit busy too.
So, the murals are really the highlight of design inside the building. Maybe if they can redo the concrete floor, they can also put some murals on the rink. What you think? Maybe just the name of the rink. One former rink did that in New York State with their logo of an old skate.
The old interior look around the rink was a beach scene. Yes! You need that in the middle of Arizona, one of the driest state with no green grass, less rain, hardly any rivers, etc.! Should have left it that way than the new graffiti style.
They have a very notable yellow steel posts on the edge of the rink. It is necessary to have those if your roof is flat. Good thing it is not in the middle of the rink floor. Those posts are truly Yellow Road Strips feel to the Blueness interior. They still are there that way but with the new murals on the walls. I admit yellow is great at the post to make skaters see where they are going but bad news is that having any Yellow colors on the post will create dirty spots and greasy making it very difficult to stay that bright color. Paint over it again and wash it 2 times a day to keep that yellow, not dirt as you can see in the Four Square photo.
I would like to see older photos to post here so let me know!
The Exterior.
It is a Flat roof Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Big Box - like Building. It is very creative with the design for the current as USA Skateland. I do not see any photos of old previous rinks at that location ever since 1985. Very colorful exterior walls, and they have a spray paint name of the rink Skateland above the main door. They have a very decorative steel "sculpture" around the front door.
I see the rear of the building that they have some weird looking fence like above the roofline but attached to the back wall. That is weird. I never seen anything like this. What is the purpose of that "fence"? See photo.
I would like older photos before they have that modern look. They have been around since 1985.
