Chalybeate Park Roller Rink Chalybeate Road, Bedford, PA
Chalybeate Park Roller Rink was once operational during Mid-Century on Chalybeate Road in Bedford, Pennsylvania. It had a park-like setting with the roller rink, swimming pool, picnic area, and kiddie playground. Rarely such a park has this few different activities back the day. Not by Mid-Century since most of those parks ended up as Trolley Parks which became Amusement Parks and Theme Parks today.
This held on throughout 1940s and 1950s. Apparently it ended around that decade.
This rink seemly heavy on advertisements in the local newspapers however, articles.. nothing. The exact location is not found on Google Map. I believe the park itself was folded. It was a private park, not a public park. Public parks are hard to close than private would do. It said to be about a mile and half between the town of Bedford and the park on Chalybeate Road.
USGS maps only could be shown back as far as 1966. Nothing further back.
Alf and Tom Burtnett owned and operated the park.
Anyone know about this rink? Please let me know. Photos would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
