Capitola Roller Rink, 1870 (originally numbered at 90) Lana Ave. NE, Salem, OR
Capitola Roller Rink was another rink in Salem, Oregon that featured in early 20th Century. They ran from 1939 - 1951. Just twelve years. It was one of known rinks of its day. The set up was different too. It had Pecan wood lay down for the rink. It had an organ to play music and skaters enjoyed skating the rink there.
It was also quite rare at this rink using a mixed roof style. It appeared to be Gambrel with a bit of Dutch Gable roof design. The photograph will clearly explain its uniqueness. It sure does showed its classic appearance.
Original color is unknown but currently it is Red paint on the exterior. The interior was quite different than the current appearance as a Christian book store.
Original photographs of the building that was the rink there plus the interior would be valuable for us to evaluate and post on here. Anyone?
After it went out of business, it had several businesses including
Trader Louie's (Apr 1951 - Feb 1956)
Gebs (May 1956 - Dec 1966)
Bible Book House (1966 - Current) (According to Google Map)
