Candy Cane Skate Center Redwood County Fair 211 N Dekalb St., Redwood Falls, MN
This rather unusual name for a rink was in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. There is not much information at all but it was listed on some lists of rinks in the past. It is also an assumed name for the rink. The apparent thing is, on the Google Map it pointed to one of the two Quonset Hut building on a farm. Easily seen--well, barely thanks to Google Map having a huge Red-cab tractor trailer to block it. Hahaha.
It was at a county fairgrounds. Redwood County Fair.
Google Mapper did not drive on North Dekalb Street for me to see up closer. Unfortunately.
However, Bizapedia points that it was an assumed name filed on May 2, 1996 and they were operated by Lohman Skate Centers, LLC which was operated by Tom Lohman. Interesting that the company was filed on April 18, 1996 according to the same website, Bizapedia.
If that was the case where the rink was, it was in that classic Quonset Hut building that was likely built in 1930s/40s on a farm. It may have been because of the assumed name, it does not mean actual rink. It was in planning stages. Was this going to be a rink on a farm?
All but a mystery.
UPDATE --
A skating fan wrote me this in her email. This is what she has to say.
The Candy Cane Rink in Redwood Falls was the actual name of that one.
She went on to explain a few rinks in one email.
