"Camaro" Roller Rink. Perry, NY?
This discovery of the unknown rink has a nickname called "Camaro" Roller Rink. This photographer, Flickr member Ben Garratt (mookie427) took a good series of photographs of this truly abandoned roller rink. It is named Camaro Roller Rink because of a forgotten Camaro at the location.
It appears to be destinated for demolished but apparently it is sitting there empty for quite a long time and well preserved not caused by swatters and punks who would love to spray graffiti on walls. Well, that is why Ben was smart not to say the name of the location. He must have had permission from the owner not to say the name of the rink and not to say the name of location or the crazy people would come out of wood work and do something to that rink.
I do not blame the owner and Ben the photographer. So hence, it has a nickname, "Camaro" Roller Rink because of a parked in the dust and parts missing Camaro in garage part of the building. It appeared to be gabled roof red brick building likely built in early 1900s or even late 1800s by the look of arched windows that were filled in by none other than bricks. Then the painted wood walls covered the rink.
Apparently there was an area appeared to be admission and snackbar that has more modern foam ceiling boards up which dates far back as 1960s. That area does look more recent though because of the ceiling, and other things left there. It looks 1980s. So, that brings to date of closure around 1980s to 2010. The roof is gone apparently only leaving the truss still there which can be rebuilt if someone wants to fix it up. But it is pretty bad shape. Grass and mosses are growing on the ground where the rink was. Clearly it is wood floor. Wood floor does allow such nature to grow since the admission/snack bar area is carpeted and still clear floor there.
There was also appeared to be an apartment because of 1960s style wicker furniture such as chairs and bookshelf. And of course again, the Redish Orange Camaro sitting there with some missing parts such as bumper and headlights. It appeared that the owner left everything there as it was. Skates are still there, apartment furniture are still there. That brings curiosity that either the tenant or owner left for some reason or may have passed away and it was nothing done to the rink.
Also I will agree with Ben and a website, Web Urbanist not to reveal for the sake of safety of everyone. No paranormal investigations allowed, no swatters allowed, no nothing! The fate of that rink today is still unknown. I even do not know where that rink is! The looks with bricks and the way sunlight is. It is somewhere in the Northeast. Based on a photo, I figured it out it would be in the Finger Lakes region.
