Courtesy of Flikr/Pinertest/Tumber (Skate Your Date). They all say they got it from one or the other or other way. Practically the same sticker. You noticed the address says 415 Old Magnolia Road. OK, I looked, there is not such a road with that name. Google thinks it is Magnolia Rad SW. I have no choice to force an issue. So, I have to accept as it is says 451 Magnolia Road SW.
Cam - Ark Roller Rink 451 Magnolia Rd (SW), Camden, AR
Cam - Ark Roller Rink evidently was located at 451 Magnolia Road in Camden, Arkansas. This rink was much older as it was likely in mid-century such as 1950s, 1960s. Maybe older. Thanks to one Google Map evidence and the sticker found on flickr, Pinterest, even t-shirts someone was selling them with that rink's sticker on shirts.
There is a 1961 report about the town, Camden, the rink was found on page.4 (out of 15) the Cam-Ark Roller Rink was listed with the street and the owner' name, James Bechteheimer who also owned Camark Sporting Goods which was on 120 Washington Street, Camden. Apparently made sense that for his love of sports, roller skating is a sport. Hey Olympics! We are still waiting for you to have medal competitions! Hey Los Angeles, you are having the games soon so add the roller skating competition because skating is big in Venice, CA! If the Olympics wont, then why not Roller Sports ask the Olympics for the appearance of the the 2028 Olympics medals and have them reproduce them for the skating competitions. Simple!
Ok, back to this. James clearly loved sports and owned a sporting goods store which I believe also sold roller skates there. And likely a pro-shop for skating there but it was at a different location. He was a sports writer, announcer, Sports reporter, Sports editor, you name it. In his obituary which omitted his ownership of the rink mentioned his Sporting Good store that he ran for 27 years. He was very involved in the communities such as groups, a volunteer firefighter whom he served fo more than 20 years and retired as a captain. he also served in the United States Marines Corps. Thank you for defending the Constitution of the United States and I want to add, for our faith in the LORD Jesus Christ. My, James started his first job was delivery of local newspaper and even wrote sports for the same paper before HS Graduation but he was drafted in to fight against Tyranny in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he was still involved in sports.
I have no other information such as when it was opened, closed, why closed, sizes, everything.
Even location! Where was it? It pointed out on Google Map to an old banded metal building with another building that has an Arched-curve roof. It looked small. Which one? Even the one on the corner with red paint. That is next door to those abandoned buildings. Google needs to shape up with their map. It pointed to the red pin where then I went down to street level to see it and it says 430 Magnolia Rd SW. So, where is 451 if you are following the map on the road, not the sky. They need to fix every square inch on those maps everywhere. They need to stop at every single business without business numbers as well as residents to get actual number.
For now I have to say it is those 2 buildings. The gable building and an Arch-Curved building. Likely the Arch-Curved but it is quite small rink then.
Anyone who knows about this rink, please let me know.
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
Since I do not know exactly where. I am assuming it is the two silver sheet metallic building. More specific is the Arch-curve building that is in the fenced-in area with tall grasses and it does look abandoned. If that was the case, that is what the building was.
