The historic Burkett's Roller Rink under repairs in 2019, way passed the deadline to repair. Must be the court gave its decision to Burkett Ross to have time to repair it. You can see the wall was not covered yet and pipes not yet installed was laying on the ground besides the side door. Courtesy: Google Map.

Burketts Roller Rink 1006 S Main St, Petal, MS
Burketts Roller Rink 1006 S Main St, Petal, Mississippi was first opened in 1971 but was shuttered due to a January 21, 2017 tornado struck the town. This very same town was seriously damaged twice-- in 2013 and that January 2017. It is by the edge of the Tornado alley from Texas up to say Minnesota. Wide from Texas to say.. Alabama up to Ohio and Lake Michigan. (See map above.)
The main owner of a group of owners which is a family owned is Forrest County District 3 Supervisor Burkett Ross. I do not know the fate of this place because all I see is a 2019 Google Map photograph and His start with battle on the rink's survival.
He also owned Southern Lanes, a bowling alley next door to the rink by the traffic light in town.
About a third of the 1950’s-era Pecan floor was corrupted and ruined because of the tornado. It’s currently being used for storage.
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
It appeared to be basic and aged building although about 25 to 35 percent of the entire structure was a rebuilt due to the damages by a January 2017 tornado. The roof is mainly Gable with a Mix up front with the out-extension of the main building. The main Gable roof is Sheet metal but the walls are several kinds. Red Brick for the street front side while some of it in Yellow-White Bricks or Cinderblocks. The rest such as rear and back side are White painted Cinderblocks. A mix of different materials. The attractiveness is not that great. No. Sorry. The bowling alley though is a bit more attactive although the appearance for that place looked too much like a C-store with out any gas pumps!
The building is a Free-Span Wood Truss Red Bricks Bricks and Yellow-White Bricks with White Cinderblocks - Walled Warehouse - like Building.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Pecan Wood, laid in 1950s. Floor Layout: N/A.

Operated: (Overall)-- 1971 to January 21, 2017.
Reason for Closure: Tornado damaged and legal issues with the town regarding repairs vs. torn down. Bankruptcy. Now storage.
