Bryan Roller Rink was on 910 East Edgerton Street in Bryan, Ohio. It began on April 24, 1946 after it was built by by Alva Cupp, his son Bernard, and daughter-in-law Eileen.
The Cupps owned and operated Bryan Roller Rink on the this single story building. The approximately 50- by 150-foot, one-story concrete block skating rink was constructed on the south side of Edgerton Street west of Union Street.
When they opened, the Bryan Press newspaper reported, “The owners will hold roller skating Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. Monday and Friday nights will be set aside for private parties.
Round and square dancing every Saturday night starting Saturday, May 4 with Harold Walter’s seven piece orchestra from Napoleon.”
Unfortunately, they closed in 1985.
Since the rink was on second floor, the photograph I saw only showed one floor. Did they removed the second floor? The article confused me.
Word for word is taken from the article:
"The Cupps operated a skating rink on the second floor of what is now the American Legion hall in Stryker. The approximately 50- by 150-foot, one-story concrete block skating rink was constructed on the south side of Edgerton Street west of Union Street."
-- The Village Reporter. March 14, 2018.
Currently, I do not know what the fate of that building. Since it says 2013 on Google, and 2016 in The Village Reporter. What else?
It may have also been Stryker Roller Rink but I am not sure. Need more information.
The Interior.
N/A.
The Exterior.
Currently looking very basic. Although photograph taken in 2013, it showed all Snow White color entirely even the front door. No signs, nothing. American Legion must have sold the place and moved twice since then. They merged with VFW. (I noticed there are two war veterans organizations, should become one).
I believe it was all Cinderblocks originally but likely American Legion remodeled it with Steel Sheet metals covering entire building even the roof.
Currently, I do not know what the fate of that building. Since it says 2013 on Google, 2016 in The Village Reporter. What else?
