Salvation Army Gym, 110 Kociusko Street, Brooklyn, NY
Brooklyn Skates Salvation Army Gym, 110 Kociusko Street, Brooklyn, New York was operational for ten years in this location. This is not about a dead roller skating rink. It is about a dead location where this rink was so this qualifies. Brooklyn Skates is still operational so this is a fact to let you know they will return to skating world with a new home, prayerfully they do.
They were housed at a Salvation Army gym where the Christian organization also uses for other activities. The skating rink business leased the rink twice a week for skating for about ten years until end of July 2022. They had a hiatus for a month but now they are asked out of the gym because Salvation Army is having their basketball league growing and expanding their basketball activities.
At this time of writing, Brooklyn Skates are searching for a new home. If you like to help or you have a place, please provide them a new home for their skating. Please check their Instagram page for further information and contact.
The Interior.
It was a gym where they had skating in and the floor I can see is Maple however, they are tiles block of wood similar to Parquet however, it was not Parquet because all line of wood are lined together, not choppy Parquet style you would find in say, the Boston Gardens where an NBA team plays at. They have beautiful floor for that professional basketball but this is a different basketball court I am referring to. This is a gym basketball court the Salvation Army owns. You would feel like skating at a school gym. Some schools did have skating on their floors. They have baskets hanging above the floor. This might be the size-- 49 Feet wide by 92 Feet long which is smaller than a hockey rink. Way smaller.
The Exterior.
It is a Free-Span Steel Trusses Sand Colored Bricks - Walled Gym - like Building with Flatted Roof.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
