America on Wheels Rt. 23, Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Mountain View, NJ
Brass Rail Arena Rt. 23, Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Mountain View, New Jersey was once a rink perhaps one of the shortest ever under the America On Wheels umbrella. This rink began on Saturday, 08 May 1937. One of the original rink with AOW Corporation. However, this rink lacked much more information and media did not cover as much. I am sure you are thinking the same as I am thinking: short life.
It appeared to be closed in early 1940s. It became night clubs according to my colleague at another website. But how did he know that it became night clubs? Google did not show that.
Anyone know what happened to this rink or has photos, please submit them to Rink-History.
That road is long road. Anyone know exactly where it was?
This is the hardest to research rink under AOW Corporation. Hmm. Talk about difficulties!
The Interior.
It was an open air roller rink. Outdoors? That was quite unusual for AOW Corporation to have an Open Air Outdoors Roller Rink. It may have actually been a prototype for AOW Corporation. Because of this concept. However, it is not profitable due to limitations. Here is why: Summer time skaters usually like to spend time doing something or go on vacation and not skating but they could go skating. The East Coast is usually humidity and hot. It is not good.
I am sure It is closed during winter. Leaving only Spring and Fall seasons. Minus days of wet ground due to rain and raining during those sessons. Did it hurt the business? Possible. This is why they only ran as short as 4 years. Who knows.
The Exterior.
Again, it was an Open Air. The appearance is unknown.

Thank you for understanding.
Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
