Bozeman Hot Springs Resort, 133 Lower Rainbow Rd., Bozeman, MT
This may have fooled you but it is not. At one time, back in 1940s or around the 20th Century. There is no online information that has the dates for the rink itself. There is, however, an article related to this rink that was at Bozeman Hot Springs Resort, an RV resort with modern swimming pools and a sound stage where bands play outdoors.
The color shown means the resort is still operational. It has a long history, however. Before 1870s Native Americans and Cattlemen/Cowboys stopped there for bathing in hot springs natural pools as a stop over on their long travels throughout the West. But in mid-1870s, Francis Albert Lund marketed the springs as a cure for various ailments. This was first commercial usage of this location. That lead to several ownerships come and go.
Then by early 1920s, the owners-- The Collett Family made quite a renovations to the Springs resort. moved the swimming pool, added a dance hall, baseball field, and a rifle range and updated the look. But in few short years later, the dance hall burned down but was rebuilt and used for decades. However in 1940s, the dance hall was retrofitted as a roller rink. It was popular among children. Those very same who grew up in area remembered the elevated bus at the resort's entrance on US Highway 191 which for years, served as a sign to impatient children that skating was about to begin.
It had Maple wooden floor. For sure it was renovated several times and today it is a fitness center. with the pools both indoors and outdoors. Each pool has different temperatures.
Many of the features such as rifle range, skating rink, baseball field are gone. On Facebook, it showed how gorgeous their outdoor area with several pools and stone wall structures. Also their website showed gorgeous grounds.
The closure of the rink is unknown. Need some photos!
