Boston rink 1 the corner of Clarendon and St. James Streets in the Back Bay, Boston, MA.
This unknown name of rink but was told in an article about Lowell Skating Rink in Lowell, MA. This rink said to be the largest in Boston, Massachusetts with the measurement of 180 Feet Long by 70 Feet Wide. Large but technically it was a larger end of medium size rink.
It was on the corner of Clarendon Street and St. James Street in Boston. I see on Google Map and there is no way to know which corner! There are three choices which helps rather than four because the fourth one is there is age old church still standing at that corner. The other two corners have two very modern skyscrapers and tall. The other being a few story Romanesque style building. The tallest is all Glass 1980s style. The other is a Roman Revivalism of sort.
That is the problem because both Google Map which goes back to 2007 in most areas and US Geographical Society only had aerial photos beginning in 1940s. Rarely 1930s from airplanes. You want to go back to 1880s when this rink was in operational. As I have said before, the older rinks are, the harder to find out information.
What you think? Do you know anything about this rink? Please find out or if you know, let me know. Thank you!
