Bedford Roller Rink Bedford Avenue and Erin Street, Hill District, PA
Bedford Roller Rink Bedford Avenue and Erin Street, Hill District, Pennsylvania. This rink was listed in the 1908 Pittsburgh Directory and was still in business in 1912.
There is not much information regarding to this very rink. But I can explain the neighborhood based on most recent- The most recent-- Google Map. The area looks pretty nice with a nice Elementary School on a small hill looming over other buildings and townhouses. Cross the street which is the corner of Bedford Avenue and Erin Street has some commercial buildings. Looks like two of them. The rink may have been in that building if that building was there as early as 1908 or before that. That corner is 2038 Bedford Avenue. It houses 2 community organizations, maybe three.
That is what I got from AP. This rink differ than the the Bedford Roller Arena which is later and at different location..
That would make logical sense it would be at that corner because of the appearance of the building. Anyone has photos, anything, please let me know.
The Interior.
In my opinion, it may have been Hardwood Maple floor, non-painted but had Columns/posts on the floor. It was done because of flat roof and upper floors on half of that building. I might be wrong.
The Exterior.
It might have been that building I saw on Google Map but not sure. This is why it is not shown here unless it is. But if it is, it is a mutli-story building. Most likely ground level.
