Both logo courtesy of Bayswater Roller City. I love the wave which would represents water of course. But more like a electronic wave. I love the color. It really showed vibrant for this rink.
Both courtesy of Google Map. Noticed sign change in c. 2014 or so. The left photo showed old sign as the right, new sign.
Left courtesy of Four Square. Right, Google Map. Clearly the photo on the left was taken before 2012 new management. Older sign, and those two cars.. what that has to do with the rink? It has different name on it. You can spot the second vehicle in background on left. The building in background is next door.
Google Map. No, this was not the Howard Johnson's restaurant or hotel for that matter. Haha. It was a roller rink!
Google Images.
Google Images.
All are Google Images. I love the big sign high on the wall but I can see the ceiling.. Uh oh. Is that black mold? If yes, that is dangerous to breath in.

Bayswater Roller City 37 Scoresby Road, Bayswater, VIC, Australia
This roller rink, Bayswater Roller City was operational from 1977 to 30 June, 2021. They were held at 37 Scoresby Road, Bayswater, Victoria, Australia.
The previous owners of the rink operated up to around 2011/2012 and the final owner since 2011/12 to its closing in 2021.
The Interior.
The interior was very basic design. It originally had just Concrete but in around 2012, they covered with Roller Court, a rubberized tongue and groove tiles on the floor. Great for roller hockey, but not great for speed skaters. They clearly shifted from one to another.
They have large wall windows on one side of the building and brought in a lot of light in the place. They have that huge name ROLLER CITY sign on this White Wall on one end.
People said it is somewhat big but I am not sure by seeing in the photos. Looked more toward to smaller size. If anyone knows, please let me know.
The Exterior.
This is somewhat Googie's fused with Mid-Century design. They have colorful roof design. It appeared to be Howard Johnson's colors on the place. Instead of the HJ Orange, it is HJ's Teal with a certain bit of HJ Orange on it. The canopy is HJ Teal to match the roof.
The roof itself where it is HJ Teal located has Steel Walled material wrapped around clearly it was horizonal sheet like a siding. Same with other parts of the building. The walls were Red Brick Veneer to match the style of early 1970s and late 1960s as I recalled.
The spot is somewhat difficult to spot because of a narrow parking lot and the store in front of the rink.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Originally Concrete, then they added Roller Court in mid 2010s.. Floor Layout: N/A.
Building Size: N/A. Built: N/A. Demolished: N/A.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Red Bricks Brickl-Walled Convention center - like Building.
Roof: Googie's style..
Acres: N/A.
Operated: (Overall)-- 1977 to 30 June 2021.
Reason for Closure: I believe it was COVID lockdown that hurt the business.
Wanted: Information regarding exact dates of open/closed, why closed, size of rink, rink materials. Also photos. Anyone knows or have photos, please let me know by emailing at [email protected]. Thank you.
