Bath Rollercade 91 Springside Drive, Akron, OH
Bath Rollercade was located at 91 Springside Drive, Akron, OH. It is now a Jewish Temple and an office in the rear after it was heavily renovated. Really beautiful renovation they have done. Rinks, take note!
The address was in Akron but the name Bath was included because of the suburb that was in Akron area.
But the original was very different. It was huge rink! It was big and the building is still big and increased in size for the Temple.
The walking score is 52 points which is very good. Then why closed the rink?
It is now a temple, a Jewish worship center.
The Interior.
The Exterior.
The original built, in 1977, they had a combination of Cinderblocks and Steel Walled church-like Free-Span Steel Trusses building. It had large windows and front door. Looked very 1950s for that section. That style remained true from 1950s to end of 1970s. It was a popular style of its day. It was a Mid-Century design in 1977! It was not aged but fresh style for its time. It could have for today but this site seem to attract Modernism. Because in 2015, the Jewish Temple was renovated entirely in modern look. It is currently a mix between 2000s Modern Craftsman (with the Flatstone Veneer wall) and Graying of America Post-Modernism look.
I love both styles. The Classic Mid-Century look in 1977 and the renovated Post-Modernism look of 2015. Both are awesome design.
They did increase roughly 2000 Square Feet in the renovation plan because of the built over. But also they took out the front where the old front door was. If you see the Drone-like view, you will notice the front door area was reduced. They may have expanded toward the back longer. Appeared to be.
